PGA Tour RBC Heritage Betting Tips
Thursday 13th - Sunday 16th April
It was a solid week in betting tips for Before You Bet and followers at The Masters last week. Our dark horse for the event, Russel Henley, finished T4 for a nice collect, while some of our player props also saluted at healthy odds including our main tip in Rahm, McIlroy or Scheffler to win.
The Field
The PGA Tour rolls straight into another elevated event just one week on from The Masters, which means it’ll be another jam packed field full of the best players in the world competing for the $20mil on offer. The new No.1 player in the world and Masters Champion, Jon Rahm, headlines the event alongside other top ranked players including Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele.
Past winners of the event who will be teeing it up this week include Brian Gay, Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Wesley Bryan, Satoshi Kodaira, C.T. Pan, Stewart Cink and the defending champion, Jordan Spieth.
The Course
Par 71
7,101 Yards
Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina has been the host of the RBC Heritage since the event’s inception all the way back in 1969, when the inaugural tournament was won by none other than Arnold Palmer.
Relatively short by Tour standards, what Harbour Town lacks in distance, it more than makes up for with other defenses, most notably it’s slick greens that are small in size. The average green size on the PGA Tour is a little over 6,500 square feet, the average at Habour Town is just a little over 3,600 feet. Greens in regulation averages at Harbour Town are amongst the lowers on the PGA Tour, so strong scramblers generally fair well here, which is what lead Jordan Spieth to his comeback victory here last season.
Shorter players off the tee are more in contention at Harbour Town than nearly any other course on the PGA Tour, which is why the likes of Cink, Kuchar, Simpson, McDowell and Furyk have all won within the last decade.
With that being said, the RBC Heritage has traditionally been an event that doesn’t attract a lot of big names given it is usually the week following The Masters. That has changed this season, with 17 of the top 20 players in the world all teeing it up.
Betting Tips
Patrick Cantlay ($13/Top 10 $2.60)
Patrick Cantlay has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons over the last few days as many were blaming him for the slow pace of play in the final round of The Masters. He’ll be out to prove a point this week and has a great record at Harbour Town. Has competed at the RBC in five of the last six seasons and has finished in the top 10 in all but one of those attempts.
Matt Kuchar ($46/Top 30 $2.15)
Kuchar really seems to target this event every season and while there’s no doubt it will be harder to finish high on the leaderboard this season with the added talent in the field, this is a course where his lack of length won’t punish him too much. Has played here every season since 2013 and in those 10 trips to Harbour Town, has never missed the cut and finished in the top 30 eight times, including a win.
Webb Simpson ($81/Top 40 $2.10)
Simpson is another player in the same mould as Kuchar here. Lacks distance off the tee but has regular been in the top players in greens in regulation on the PGA Tour and has a killer record at Harbour Town. To go along with the win in 2020, Simpson hasn’t missed the cut in his last nine tries at the RBC, and has finished in the top 16 in 7/9.
