PGA Tour - AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Betting Tips
Thursday 2nd - Sunday 5th February
It was a solid weekend in the PGA Tour just gone as Max Homa took out the crown at the Farmers Insurance Open. We also hit a couple of place bets at good odds as Tony Finau saluted a top 20 at $2.60 while Jason Day cruised home for a top 20 at $2.05. We’ll be hunting more winners this week as we head to Pebble Beach.
The Field
The Field for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is not quite as stacked as it has been in the past as one of the feature events on the PGA Tour calendar. Jordan Spieth tops the betting markets along with the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland, Justin Rose and Matt Kuchar. Star power after that is a little thin, making this a wide open event.
Past winners of the AT&T Pro-Am who will be back in action this week include Tom Hoge, Nick Taylor, Ted Potter Jr., Vaughn Taylor, Jimmy Walker and Spieth. Tom Hoge won the event last season by two strokes over Spieth, who has one of the better records at the course.
The Course
Arguably the most famous public access golf course in the world, Pebble Beach is a popular touring ground of any avid golfer, and having played there is a common claim to fame. However, it’s not the only course in the AT&T Pro-Am rotation, as golfers will also play at Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula Country Club over the first three days before the 54-hole cut and players return to Pebble Beach for the final round.
The host course is a Par 72 at just under 7,000 yards, making it one of the shorter courses on the PGA Tour. Depending on wind conditions, the course can either play extremely difficult or fairly easy for professional players, but the winning score over the course of the tournament generally falls in the high teens under par.
Betting Tips
Once again, we’ll be taking two of the big dogs as well as two value picks this week as we hunt some winners at Pebble Beach.
Jordan Spieth ($10)
Hard to look past Spieth here. Over the course of his career, he has loved playing at Pebble Beach, not having missed a single tournament there since all the way back in the 2013 season. In 2019 at the U.S. Open, when conditions were considerably harder than the standard Pro-Am event, Spieth finished 45th. In his other nine trips to Pebble Beach, Spieth has never finished lower than 22nd, and has one win and a further five top 10 finishes.
Viktor Hovland ($12)
Like Hovland as the other big dog here. Hasn’t played a lot of golf recently but has finished 1st and 18th in his last two tournaments. Also boasts a win at Pebble Beach back in the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship.
Kevin Streelman ($91)
The first value pick I like this weekend is Kevin Streeleman. Outside of Spieth, there’s arguably no golfer that has a better resume at Pebble Beach. He doesn’t have a win and missed the cut last season, but in his six previous trips to the event, he finished 17th, 14th, 6th, 7th, 2nd and 13th.
Beau Hossler ($81)
The other value play that I like this weekend is Beau Hossler. Hossler finished 3rd at this event last season and has made the cut in all three of his last trips to Pebble. I think he will benefit greatly from the lack of star power in this field. Could easily see him with another top 20 finish here.
Jordan Spieth Win ($10) 0.5 Units
Jordan Spieth Top 10 ($2.30) 2 Units
Viktor Hovland Win ($10) 0.5 Units
Viktor Hovland Top 20 ($1.76) 3 Units
Kevin Streelman Top 40 ($2.40) 5 Units
Beau Hossler Top 40 ($2.25) 4 Units
