The Memorial Tournament Betting Tips
Muirfield Village Golf Club, Thursday 1st - Sunday 4th May
Tough week for Before You Bet golf followers at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week as we missed on all three of our betting tips, the first time this season that has happened. We’ll look to bounce back this week as we head to the famous Muirfield Village Golf Club.
The Field
Being an elevated event, the best in the world are all in action this week in an absolutely jam packed field. The only players in the top 20 who won’t be in attendance this week are those contracted to LIV Golf (Koepka and Smith) as well as Max Homa and Will Zalatoris. The field is headlined by the big three in Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, the latest of which will be looking to turn around a current form slump.
Past winners of the Memorial Tournament who will be looking to add another trophy to the case this week include Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantley, Jon Rahm, Jason Dufner, William McGirt, David Lingmerth, Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Kuchar.
The Course
Muirfield Village Golf Club
Par 72
7,533 Yards
Muirfield Village Golf Club is a prestigious golf course located in Dublin, Ohio. Designed by the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, the course is known for its challenging layout and pristine conditions. Nestled among rolling hills and mature trees, Muirfield Village offers a scenic and tranquil setting for golfers of all levels.
With its immaculate fairways, well-manicured greens, and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, Muirfield Village provides a stern test of golfing skills. The course's signature hole, the par-3 12th, nicknamed "Golden Bear," is particularly memorable, featuring an island green that demands precision and nerve.
Betting Tips
Patrick Cantlay ($11/Top 10 $2.25)
Love the look of Patrick Cantlay this weekend. The No.4 player in the world finished 9th at the PGA Championship and has a killer record at Muirfield, having won the tournament in 2019 and 2021 as well as finishing in the top 5 in 2018 and last year.
Adam Scott ($51/Top 30 $2.05)
Adam Scott has been in some solid form of late, finishing T29 at the PGA Championship which followed a T8 finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson and a T5 at the Wells Fargo. Has a really solid record at Muirfield, having made the cut in 13 of his 14 trips there and finished in the top 25 six times.
Thomas Detry ($176/Top 40 $2.30)
For a bit of value this week I’m looking to Belgian Thomas Detry. The No.86 ranked player in the world has been playing well above that ranking in recent events, finishing T7 at the Soudal Open, T40 at the PGA Championship and T21 at the Charles Schwab in the last three weeks. Has never played Muirfield before but I am backing this value bet on recent form.
