DP World Tour Championship Betting Tips
Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, Thursday 16th - Sunday 19th November
Unlike the PGA Tour and their equivalent FedEx Cup, The DP World Tour is yet to adapt a format where the winner of the season ending tournament is crowned the ‘Race to Dubai’ winner. Instead, Rory McIlroy had already done enough throughout the season in just nine qualifying events to be crowned the Race to Dubai Champion last week.
Regardless, there is still over €6m on the line this week, so some of the best players in the world will make their way to Dubai to compete in the DP World Tour’s crowning jewel.
The Field
Just 50 players qualified for the DP World Tour Championship, earning points throughout the season to improve their position in the rankings. As we mentioned, Rory sits clear atop the leaderboard, and some big names follow closely in the likes of Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm, Tyrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Kim.
Adam Meronk is the only three time winner on the DP World Tour this season and will be looking to add a fourth trophy to the case this weekend while young Australian Min Woo Lee comes into the tournament with a lot of hype.
The Course
The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates was designed by Greg Norman. This 18-hole, par 72 golf course was voted the 82nd best course in the world in Golf Digest’s ‘World’s Top 100 Golf Courses’. The course plays extremely long off the championship tees at 7,675 yards, but the desert air of Dubai does see the ball fly slightly farther for tour players.
The length and the difficulty to hit greens are the main defence at Jumeirah, so ball striking is at a premium here. We’ll be placing more weight on strong tee-to-green than the flat stick this week.
Betting Tips
Tommy Fleetwood ($15/$2.20 Top 10)
Of all of the big dogs this week, Fleetwood has been playing the most golf of late, finishing T12 at the recent Nedbank Golf Challenge, following up starts at the Alfred Dunhill and BMW Championship. Has had strong placings at Jumeirah before, finishing T27 in 2021 and T5 last season.
Min Woo Lee ($17/$2.30 Top 10)
Love the look of the Australian this week. Currently ranked 43rd in the world, Lee has been in a rich vein of form over the last few months, making 12 cuts in a row including some impressive results along the way. He finished T5 at the US Open, T9 at the Travelers Championship, T7 at the Irish Open and capped it off with an Asian Tour win at the SJM Macao Open a few weeks ago. Finished T12 at the DP World Tour Championship last year.
