PGA Tour ZOZO Championship Betting Tips
Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, Thursday 19th - Sunday 22nd October
Before You Bet golf followers came agonisingly close to another big win at the Shriners Children’s Open on the weekend as we tipped up Adam Hadwin to win at odds of $41. For the 2nd straight week our selection finished in 2nd place after Henrik Norlander narrowly missed out at the Sanderson Farms at odds of $151 just seven days prior. Good collects were made on place bets for both players though, and we’ll look to continue our strong form as we look towards the ZOZO Championship from Japan.
The Field
After a few weeks of underwhelming fields following the Ryder Cup, some of the best players in the world are back in action this week as players battle it out for the $8.5m prize-pool. Ryder Cup competitors Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Rickie Fowler will all make the trip to Japan. They’ll be joined by some of the biggest Asian stars golf has to offer in the likes of Sungjae Im and hometown hero Hideki Matsuyama.
This will be the fourth installment of the ZOZO Championship, and the past two winners in Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama will be in attendance. Some other notable names in the field include Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Eric Cole, Alex Noren and Cameron Davis.
The Course
Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club
Par 70, 7,079 yards
As is expected of a tour level golf course in Japan, the Accordia Narashino Country Club is absolutely immaculately manicured. At just over 7,000 yards, it’s one of the shorter courses on the PGA Tour but what it does lack in length, it more than makes up for in other defences such as tight, tree lined fairways as well as water in play on a number of holes.
Greens are also smaller than the tour average at Accordia, meaning players will need to be dialed in both off the tee and on approach to score well here. We’ll be targeting strong ball strikers for our betting tips this week.
Betting Tips
Xander Schauffele ($8.00/Top 10 $1.83)
Like the look of Schauffele this week. The No.6 player in the world has a good record at Accordia, having finished T10, T28 and T9 in his three trips there in the past. Has only played the Ryder Cup in the last eight weeks, but his last official start was a stellar performance at the Tour Championship where he was best off the stick to finish 2nd on handicap behind Viktor Hovland.
Tom Hoge ($67/Top 30 1.86)
For a bit of value this week I like American Tom Hoge. The journeyman missed the cut at the Shriners on the weekend but brought some fantastic form into that tournament, making four straight cuts for finishes of T20, T43, 21st and T13. Has a solid record at Accordia as well, finishing T17 in 2021 and T9 in 2022.
