PGA Tour Shriners Children’s Open Betting Tips
Las Vegas, Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th October
It was a near miss for Before You Bet followers at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the weekend as our $151 selection Henrik Norlander narrowly missed out on what would have been a huge win. Leading late in Round 4, a few untimely bogeys on the back nine forced a five way playoff in which Norlander was ultimately unsuccessful. We still collected on a handy place win from the big Swede as well as a
The Field
The top players in the world are still on a lengthy break post the Ryder Cup and will likely remain on break through Christmas. Until then, we have some lighter fields, which I think makes for more value and more opportunity for some real dark horses to break through at big odds.
Tom Kim is the defending champion and will be one of just five players competing at this event who qualified for the Tour Championship a few months ago. The others on that list are Nick Taylor, Si Woo Kim, Adam Schenk and Emiliano Grillo.
Young Swedish star Ludvig Aberg will be back in action after narrowly missing out in the five-man playoff at the Sanderson Farms Championship on the weekend. Other notables teeing it up this week include Ashkay Bhatia, Webb Simpson, Eric Cole and Joel Dahmen.
Arguably the biggest field note this week, will be Lexi Thompson, who will become just the seventh woman to compete in a PGA Tour event. Thompson went 3-1-0 for the United States at the recent Solheim Cup.
The Course
TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada is a favourite amongst PGA Tour players and has been a regular stop on the tour since all the way back in the 80s. At just 7,250 yards, it is already one of the shorter courses on the PGA Tour but usually plays even shorter than that due to the altitude in Las Vegas making the ball fly that little bit further.
As you’d expect from a course built on desert land, the TPC Summerlin Course gives the vibe of an oasis in the desert, with perfectly manicured fairway and green areas and water in play on multiple holes.
Last years winner Tom Kim finished the week ranking third in both strokes gained: tee to green as well as strokes gained: putting.
Betting Tips
Adam Hadwin ($41/Top 30 $2.20)
Like the Canadian this week. Hasn’t played competitively for a few months but brings great course form into the event, having made his last five straight cuts at TPC Summerlin. The four most recent trips have come in the last four seasons, where he has finished T4, T34, T6 and T10.
Matthew NeSmith ($61/Top 30 $2.50)
NeSmith was solid at the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, finishing T25 in his first tournament in a few weeks. Is another player that brings great course knowledge this week, having finished T18, T8, T14 and T2 in his last four trips to Vegas.
