The Super Rugby action continues this weekend with two important matchups in Brisbane and Sydney. On Friday night, the undefeated Reds host the Western Force at Suncorp Stadium. Meanwhile, the rivalry between the Waratahs and Brumbies is back on the agenda at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
Super Rugby Preview Round 3 Betting Tips
QLD Reds vs Western Force
(Fri, Jul 3 7:05pm)
The Reds return to Suncorp Stadium in Round 3 as they look for their second win of the season. Last week at Brookvale Oval, the Reds were involved in the first ever Super extra time against the Rebels. In the end, the match ended in an 18-18 draw but with the Rebels leading by 10 points with 10 minutes to go, the Reds would be happy to get 2 points from the draw.
It was an excellent start to Super Rugby AU for the Western Force after they led the ‘Tahs 14-0 after 39 minutes. However, they fell away in the second half to concede 23 unanswered points in the 23-14 defeat. So the Force will be looking to produce a more consistent result in the second half in Round 3.
The Force are massive underdogs as they head to Brisbane on Friday night, however we’re not totally sold on the Reds as yet. They were slow starters against the Rebels last week and also struggled against the Waratahs in Round 1 at this venue. So hopefully, the Force can recapture their first half performance of last week and cover this underdog line.
NSW Waratahs vs ACT Brumbies
(Sat, Jul 4 7:15pm)
The Waratahs started slowly against the Force last week as they conceded the first 14 points. But, they turned the tables in the second half with 23 points to seal their first win of the new season. However, the Brumbies will be a tough challenge and the ‘Tahs will need to fix their slow first half performances to trouble ACT here.
For the Brumbies, they enjoyed the bye last week after a fairly comfortable first round victory over the Rebels. So they’ll be looking to continue the momentum in Round 3 and bridge the gap from the competition in terms of ladder position.
These two sides met earlier this year and it was all about the Brumbies in the 47-14 victory. The Brumbies have also won the last 4 meetings by an average margin of 14.75 points. So we just can’t look past them at the line in what should be a comfortable victory. The key factor will be the Waratahs defence which can leak quick points and the Brumbies will likely take full advantage.
