Just when we thought that the Big Bash League couldn’t get any bigger, Cricket Australia has announced that the BBL08 fixture. ‘BBL08’ will feature a full home and away schedule for the first time in the competitions history.
Just a few days after releasing the WBBL04 fixture, which features more matches and stand alone finals for the first time, Cricket Australia has released the upcoming men’s Big Bash schedule. BBL08 will feature a full home and away fixture, meaning every team plays every opposition once at home and once away.
The new home and away season plus the standard three final system will see a total of 59 BBL matches played this Summer, which is 16 more than in BBL07.
Some of the standout matches on the slate include the now traditional Melbourne Derby set to take place on New Years Day and a Christmas Eve extravaganza featuring a big double header will also be a big highlight.
If you’re not already a Foxtel subscriber, you might want to consider joining up as a total of 16 games will be broadcast on the subscription service only. While the remaining 43 games will be hosted by both Fox Sport and the brand new Channel 7 simultaneously.
Channel 7 have put together a fantastic team to call their 43 BBL matches including Lisa Sthalekar, Ricky Ponting, Damien Fleming, Glann McGrath, Michael Slater, Jason Gillespie, Greg Blewett, Simon Katich and Brad Hodge.
