Sydney Roosters v Gold Coast Titans
Where: Allianz Stadium
When: Monday, August 11th at 7:00pm AEST
A coach’s farewell.
A sibling rivalry.
This one’s shaping up to be memorable.
Monday night the Sidney Roosters play hosts the Gold Coast Titans.
With the Titans being an expansion team, these two sides have met only 10 times The Titans have a strong record against the Roosters, being victorious 60% of the time. That includes winning the last four at Allianz Stadium.
Earlier this week the Rooster’s captain and NRL great Anthony Minichiello announced his retirement after 14 seasons with the Rooster including multiple appearances for New South Wales and representing both Australia and Italy internationally,
With intentions to play out the season, Minichiello will be hoping to add another feather to his cap on Monday night. This will also mark the last time Minichiello takes on his younger brother, Gold Coast second rower Mark Minichiello.
As for the game at hand, Sonny Bill is out with a broken thumb, while Jake Friend is out with a hamstring injury and Heath L’Estrange will come in as a replacement for Hooker.
Interestingly, Titans’ coach John Cartwright quit this week after eight years with the club. Monday will be his last game as coach. The Titans will be trying to raise to the occasion after a tough loss to the Cowboys last week. Will Zillman returns from a Hamstring, replacing David Mead, while Kalifa Faifal Loa returns to the wing.
I think this one come down to the Roosters quite simply being better than the Titans. Last week they showed glimpses of their 2013 Premiership winning form. At home they’ll be tough to beat.
Bet On: Sydney Roosters at the line (-11.5) - $1.92
