Sandown’s Hillside circuit will host midweek racing in Victoria on what is another dry week in Melbourne. With that fact the track is likely going to be rated a Good 4, and the first of eight races will commence at 12:25pm (AEST), with the first event looking to be a very hard one to pick the winner in. It looks a tricky day for punters therefore we have gone very wide in the Quaddie.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 8th 2024
Race 2: Senet Gambling Law Experts - 1pm (AEST)
(2) Ranveer has run three 2nds on Dry ground and he gets another Dry one here. He will get back in running and will be one of the best finishes late. He has had four jumpouts before his first up effort of 4th at Mornington on April 20 so he is fit enough to fire.
(1) Lloyd’s Crown likes this distance and has plenty of experience running over the 1000m. He is first up and he goes pretty well fresh and Tatum Bull has won on him previously.
(5) Jewell Bay almost got there at Caulfield Heath last start and he will likely settle in a good position. Michael Dee stays with him and he has won on him before and from barrier 8 I think he will position him in the one-one.
(2) Ranveer
$4.00 (2 Units)
Race 3: Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)
(2) Tacumwah was pretty solid to the line at Mornington last start over the mile and the extra 200m should suit in this race. A Good track looks a positive as she won on the Dry on October 26 when he ran on very well. She then had a crack at city meetings which he found tough. Back to midweek racing looks better and she is pretty fit after recent jumpouts.
(3) Burlington Gate has also already won on the Good and gets a senior jockey in Blake Shinn on top. She has placed in her last couple and hasn’t been beaten too far.
(7) Whistle Down has drawn wide in barrier 10 but still has a good chance with Kah on top. She led and won and The Bool last start but if Kah tried that tactic from the wide barrier she might use up too much petrol.
(2) Tacumwah
$2.80 (2 Units)
Race 4: LockettLED.au Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(5) Spirit of Nurai is first up for the Price & Kent stable and Michael Dee on top is a good get. Before the break he won well at Lakeside on a Soft track and in his last run before his spell his 9th at Caulfield but only beaten 3L was better than it looks. He is 1 from 1 over the distance and I reckon Dee will have him settle midfield before running on down the home straight.
(7) Apache Song was solid when 7th at Flemington last start and will find this race a little easier. Before that he won a Cranbourne and despite losing Williams on top, he gets Shinn.
(6) Nova Lights has drawn barrier 11 which is a little concerning for favourite backers. She led and won well at Bendigo last start but had the aid of barrier 1 on that occasion. Harder this time and is short enough at $2.80.
(5) Spirit Of Nurai
$6.00 (1 Unit)
