Ascot Racing Tips: Saturday, April 27th 2024
Race 1: Seacorp Plate 1100m - 1:54pm (AEST)
(1) Siren Assault $2.30: best bet of the day! Comes out of the G2 Karrakatta Plate over 1200m LS when she was afforded no favours racing 3WNC the entirety yet stuck on well. Before that she was a dominant winner over 1100m in the Gimcrack Stakes and Drummond Golf Plate beating the likes of GOLDEN KATHLEEN and BUSTLING (who subsequently turned the tables on her in said Karrakatta). She comes way back in grade today and only rises 3.5kgs under SWP conditions. She’s versatile so they can go forward or look to take a sit from a middle gate and save her up for last crack. Back to 1100m today and looks hard to beat.
(9) Rainline $3.70: 2YO who showed promise on debut only narrowly missing out. Both trials before that were smart enough and the early market suggest she is good enough here too. Willy Pike in the saddle builds confidence too. Will go well.
(1) Siren Assault
$2.30 (4 Units)
Race 4: Morely Growers Market BM72+ – 3:41pm (AEST)
(1) Triple Jay $3.70: looks a nice value runner in a competitive race. He clearly needed the run first-up over 1000m to my eye as he looked flat footed turning for home before warming up nicely late (best L200m split of the race). He then went to 1200m LS and had to carry the grandstand with 61kgs on his back, yet he closed off very well to just miss SONOFTHEBOSS in the shadows of the post (was a great effort). He gets Willy Pike back aboard today, draws gate 2 in a race that looks devoid of much speed, and maps to lead or camp in behind them. MALKAR PINDARI produced an excellent finale to win first-up over 1200m, but she meets TRIPLE JAY poorly at the weights and will likely settle last in a small field without much tempo giving him a head start. She may well be too good for them, but I don’t think they should be so far apart in the market. Overs.
(5) Malkar Pindari $2.10: Enormous last start winning first up and had a blistering late sectional. Definitely the main danger again off that effort, but will need to produce another big finish to pick Pike up.
(1) Triple Jay
$3.70 (2 Units)
Race 6: Shelia Gwynne Classic 1400m–4:45pm (AEST)
(2) Baby Paris $2.80: we were with her first-up and she looked after us nicely with a strong win over 1200m. Although she had a nice run behind the leader, she was held-up momentarily while REAL DANGER was in clear air building momentum, yet she railed up and was the best closer of the race (won in fast time / best 4-200m and L200m splits of the race / went 7.2L above average). She’ll take natural improvement from that run, has had two weeks between starts, has a good second-up profile, gets in very well at the weights under SWP, and maps to sit behind the front runners again. If we go back to last preparation, she led them up over this track/distance and was too good for them beating home RUSTY DREAMS et al (good form). Happy her way.
(4) Laced Up Heels $2.50: 4YO mare who has been super thus far this prep and gets a quick back up here. Unbeaten 4th up and worth thought again here. Market support suggests she is the one to beat.
(2) Baby Paris
$2.80 (3 Units)
