Round 3 in the NRL concludes with two teams sporting two game winning streaks, as the Warriors head to the western suburbs of Sydney to take on the Wests Tigers. Whilst the Warriors looked horrible in their trip to Vegas in round 1, two consecutive home games has got them looking far better, but can their form translate outside of Auckland, or will the Tigers continue their impressive start to the 2025 NRL season, keeping pace with the NRL top 4 in the process? We bring you our thoughts and tips below!

Match Preview
The questions were starting at halftime last week in the Tigers round 3 game against the Dolphins, as the Tigers trailed 18-12 heading into the break. This off the back of a win over the Parramatta Eels, however the Tigers weren’t pretty in that game either. The second half once again showed what the Tigers are capable of, as they racked up three unanswered tries to run away with the victory, 30-18 and sit inside the top 4.
The Warriors took on the Roosters at home in a game that closed essentially a pick em’. For the most part, the game lived up to that billing, as both teams appeared evenly matched, at least through the first hour of the contest. However, in the final 20 minutes of the game, the Warriors gradually took the ascendency, managing to score two unanswered tries in a five-minute span to close out the game 14-6 winners.
The Tigers and Warriors met once last season, in round 21 in Auckland, where the Warriors closed 12.5-point home favourites, with a total of 48.5. It was a performance typical of the last decade from the Tigers, as they missed 40 tackles and made 12 errors on their way to a 28-16 loss. It wasn’t a surprise (see the spread), with the Warriors pushing hard for a top 4 spot and the Tigers lamenting on another season of woe.
Fast forward just 9 weeks of regular season football, and the tables have turned. The Tigers were listed as 1.5-point favourites on the look ahead, before re-opening at -4.5 on the back of their inspired second half showing against the Warriors. This number has fluctuated either side of 4 throughout the week, and depending on where you bet you can get between -2.5 and -4.5 for the Tigers. I completely agree with this assertion, and see a Tigers win by 1-12 as a likely result here.
Moving on to the total, and it was 48.5 at open, and has been bet down slightly to 47.5. I have a fair total of 48, and therefore see no real value in the total. I would lean towards the under, but it’s not a play.
Tigers Win By 1-12

Leg 1: Tigers ML – As above, Tigers to get the chocolates in a tight one.
Leg 2: Sunia Turuva (1+ try) – Out of all the Tigers off-season recruitment, I don’t think anyone got less plaudits than Turuva. But the former Panther has been a godsend to this backline, showing not only his try scoring ability but his professionalism to the team. A huge signing.
Leg 3: Ali Leiataua (1+ try) – This kid looks like an absolute handful on the right for the Warriors, and he will be hard to stop even for this much improved Tigers defence.
SGM Odds: $6.50 at BoomBet
