Match Preview
The Eels were comprehensively defeated 26-12 by the Sea Eagles on the road last week. It has been the same story each week for them thus far: they have looked competitive at times but failed to play for the entire duration of the match. They are letting themselves down in key areas. This was evident in their 73% completion rate with just 45% possession, while also allowing their opponents to make 9.1m per carry.
The Dragons caused an upset at home in challenging conditions, defeating the Storm 14-8. Overcoming an 8-6 HT deficit, the week off served the Dragons well to further develop their resilience. Their result was built on solid defence, and they made a statement by missing just 27 tackles and limiting their opponents ball movement.
This is an ugly match to part ways with your money. The best advice is to stay away from it altogether. Despite being winless, there is a genuine sense that the Eels are getting closer to a victory. There have been numerous times this season whereby they have performed well. The problem is consistency still eludes them. The defensive effort of the Dragons last week was something to be admired. It seems a week off served them well, but you cannot overlook the toll a match against the Storm will take on a team. Both their opponents this season have been slow starter the following week. Adding to the confusion, the Eels have won 4 out of the past 5 games against the Dragons, while the visitors have a horror record here (25% - 6 wins from 24 matches).
If you must have a bet on this contest, invest around the points total. The average total points in the past 5 matches is 52.8 points, but the season attacking averages in 2025 (Eels 11ppg vs Dragons 19ppg) suggests that points will be hard to come by.

Leg 1: Eels to score the first points – see above for clarification with teams playing the following week after facing the Storm.
Leg 2: Addo-Carr to score – he has been a welcomed addition to the Eels left edge. Expect more ball to be provided to the exciting finisher in positive field position.
Leg 3: Tuipulotu to score – he has been a shining light for the Dragons this season with 4 tries to his name. Another exciting finisher who knows how to find his way to the tryline.
