Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday March 29th 2025

March 28th 2025, 2:51pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Group 1 Australia Cup Day headlines racing at Flemington on Saturday with a belter of a day ahead for punters. The weather looks fine and the track should remain a Good 4 with the first of 10 starting at 12:15pm (AEDT). The Australia Cup is race eight on the program at 4:15pm (AEDT), with last year's runner up Pride Of Jenni the current favourite. My three best bets and Quaddie selections are below!

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, March 29th 2025

Race 1: TAB We’re On - 12:15pm (AEDT)

(3) Pondalowie settled back on resumption at Lakeside and ran on well for 4th before running another 4th at Caulfield last start when she had to run on after they went slow in front which made it hard. There should be more pace in this race and Pondalowie has won over this track & distance previously. She has been freshened for this and is 100 percent fit now being third up. Dean Yendall takes the ride for the first time up the straight.

(2) Bossy Nic is ready to win again but goes better on Soft tracks I reckon. He loves Flemington though and is a deserved favourite.

(7) Written Bligh likes Dry tracks and likes it when Tom Prebble is on. She was poor at this track last start (9th) but she has a good record over this distance.

(3) Pondalowie Each-Way

$4.40/$1.65 (1U/2U)

Race 4: Royal Ascot VOBIS Gold Reef - 1:55pm (AEDT)

(1) Ndola drops in class here after running in Group races in his last three starts. Last start despite finishing 9th, he wasn’t too bad when beaten 5.5L at this track and remaining with Luke Currie and 57.5kg but in significantly less class, he gets his chance. He is 2 from 2 on Good tracks and despite not having won in 6 months, he should get a gun run from barrier 3. He sat in around 4th position when he won his last race at Lakeside and I reckon he settles in a similar position here.

(4) Cavity Bay is consistent on Good tracks and will be fitter after her 7th at Caulfield when first up last start. She has placed in harder races than this and will pay better than even money.

(6) Bossy Benita is a filly in fine form and is going for three in a row here. Biggest test yet though with it being her first try at Flemington.

(1) Ndola WIN

$3.50 (2 Units)

Race 8: TAB Australian Cup GROUP 1 - 4:15pm (AEDT)

(4) Middle Earth gets the nod in what is a bloody good and intriguing race. He is having his second Australian start for the leading Maher stable and he did win the Australian Cup Prelude at this track on March 8. Despite being from England, he prefers Dry ground which he will get and with some hot pace out at front which is key. Pride of Jenni and Deny Knowledge should provide fast early sectionals and he should get a lovely cart into the race from about 6th position, which is likely where he will settle. Mark Zahra stays on and I think he is good odds at $4.50 and We will play Each-Way with double the Place.

(8) Zardozi will run on well with the strong pace on but would have preferred a Soft track for this guy. He was a good 2nd behind Jenni last start at Caulfield but he goes better at Flemington.

(2) Attrition is a genuine Place chance because the track will remain Good. He will be close to last at the 500m but similar to the above horses, I am relying on a fast pace to set it up for the backmarkers in this race.

(4) Middle Earth Each-Way

$4.50/$1.65 (1U/2U)
