TSM vs Evil Geniuses
LCS 2023 Summer
TSM are in a surprisingly good position ahead of the third week of the LCS 2023 Summer Split, having won half of their games (3-3). That includes wins against FlyQuest, NRG Esports, and Immortals, while TSM’s only three defeats happened against Team Liquid, Cloud9, and Golden Guardians.
Evil Geniuses haven’t looked bad over the first two weeks either and are 5-1, with just one defeat against Dignitas. And even though Evil Geniuses have had a light schedule, they looked good on Saturday when they took down Team Liquid, but a bit of it had to do with Team Liquid starting to sleep.
That win has bumped Evil Geniuses up a bit, but it’s easy to get caught believing one team is very good due to one good showing. And even though Evil Geniuses have looked better than TSM, the offered odds on the outsiders are a bit too high.
TSM are a solid team and shouldn’t be priced as such big outsiders. But they tend to be a bit inefficient in closing out their games, so I’m taking them with a 6.5-kill advantage.

FlyQuest vs Team Liquid
LCS 2023 Summer
FlyQuest are officially the worst-performing team in the league, as they enter the third week of LCS 2023 Summer Split without a single win (0-6). But they’re not the worst team in the league because FlyQuest have great players who should bounce back soon.
Team Liquid looked unstoppable until last week when they lost against Evil Geniuses and Dignitas; however, the first game ended the way it did because Team Liquid threw. And against Evil Geniuses, TL looked lost. This is not a good sign, and while I wouldn’t overreact to Liquid losing two games, we must then also ask if praising Liquid for going 4-0 is worth being overly excited about.
Team Liquid have shown more than FlyQuest this season, so it’s not surprising to see them priced as 1.50 favourites. But Liquid didn’t look too clean last week, and FlyQuest are bound to bounce back at one point, so it might not be too stupid to consider backing FlyQuest here.
Both teams are struggling, and we know that FlyQuest have good enough players to defeat any team in the league. It’ll take a massive bounceback for FlyQuest to regain people’s trust, and it wouldn’t be too shocking to see it happen here.

NRG Esports vs Golden Guardians
LCS 2023 Summer
NRG Esports are 2-4, while Golden Guardians are 4-2, which explains why Golden Guardians are 1.53 favourites, even though they’ve not looked super good this split. That’s more relative to what Golden Guardians produced in LCS 2023 Spring Split, yet Golden Guardians still have much to show.
NRG Esports have lost all three of their matches last week, but they had to play Team Liquid (before they crumbled), the in-form TSM, and the unstoppable Cloud9. Before that, NRG Esports played a solid game against Evil Geniuses (0-1), stumbled against Immortals (0-1), but defeated 100 Thieves.
There are some positive things to take from NRG’s results, but it’s becoming clear that they’re not very strong. Even though this split has seen many upsets, it’s tough to justify betting on NRG Esports to defeat Golden Guardians, who should have a relatively easy time coming away with a victory.
As mentioned, Golden Guardians have yet to reach a very high level this split, but they’ve looked much better than NRG Esports.
Golden Guardians -5.5 kills
