The pre-season is done and dusted and it's finally time to launch into the 2021-22 NFL season! As always, Before You Bet will be bringing you betting tips for every game this season, but today we are taking a look at the season on the whole and breaking down some of our best future tips.
NFL Season Preview & Betting Tips
Divsion Winners
There are a few divisions that represent some real value, and a few that certainly dont. We'll be aviding the latter, with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers likely to romp home their divisions at short odds. We'll focus on some of our favourite picks for division winners that still have some meat left on the bone.
AFC East
Really like the look of the Bills in the AFC East. They finished 13-3 on the season last year to win the division by a full three games over their nearest opponent in the Miami Dolphins. The Bills should only get better this season with another year under developing quarterback Josh Allen and while it was a relatively quiet off-season, that is a good thing when you were dominant in the division the year before.
AFC North
The AFC North is set to be one of the most competitive divisions in the league this season, with three prime candidates to take the crown in the Ravens, Steelers and Browns. Pittsburgh took the title last year but all three teams made the playoffs, and I like Baltimore to jump back to their 2019 form this season. They looked dangerous in the back half of the season and had a solid off-season, improving their already high powered offence with the signing of Sammy Watkins.
NFC East
The NFC East has been a preverbial s**t show for a few years and with everything going to plan, it will be again this year. It's been absolutely brilliant to watch these four teams struggle against eachother, with Washington winning the division last year with just a 7-9 record. If Dak Prescott remains healthy for the Cowboys, they will no doubt be hot favourites for the division, but that's a big if. I'm leaning towards the Giants here. They put all the chiups in this season, looking to be strong moving into the prime of Saquon Barkley's prime. They made plenty of moves in the off-season and have an extremely high powered offence.
NFC West
The last division where we see some real value is in the NFC West. Seattle took out the division last season with a 12-4 record, two games ahead of the Rams and they didn't do a lot in the off-season, which makes me wonder why they are third favourite to win the division again at odds of $3.75. Apart from the signing of MAtt Stafford, the Rams weren't really able to do much in the off-season to improve as they were pretty cash strapped.
Super Bowl LVI
Finally, we'll take a look at who we think will take out the Vince Lobardi Trophy this season. It's hard to look past the Kansas City Chiefs for me. They made it all the way to the Super Bowl last season only to go down Tom Brady and the Buccaneers so they will be out for blood in 2021-22. They had a brilliant off-season, adding a bunch of key players on both sides of the ball, particluarly the offensive line, which was arguably their achilles heel last season.
Add in another year of development in the career of the best quarterback in the league in Pat Mahomes and you have a recipe for a Super Bowl contender. They are in the easier conference, so their road to the big dance certainly wont be as hard as it will be for the reigning champion Buccaneers.
