Week 2 in the NFL provided a fantastic slate of games and some interesting results! The 2019-20 NFL season continues this weekend as Week 3 kicks off on Friday morning with the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Tennessee Titans from 10.20am.
We have a preview and betting tips for some of the key matchups in Week 3 including some of the primetime TV slots for Australian fans below.
NFL Week 3 Betting Tips
Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars (Friday 10.20am AEST)
After a dominant Week 1 win over the Browns, the Titans couldn’t back it up in their home opener as they scored just 17 points and went down to the travelling Indianapolis Colts by two points. The Titans passing game struggled to get going as Marcus Mariota went just 19/28 passing for 154 yards.
They’ll face off against the Jaguars on Friday morning, who have lost their opening two games of the season but have shown some promising signs in both games with backup QB Gardner Minshew at the helm for the injured Nick Foles. Minshew put up 275 yards against the Chiefs in Week 1 before posting 213 and a touchdown in the one point loss to the Texans on Monday.
The Titans start as slight 1.5 point favourites on the road btu we are leaning towards the home team here. The Browns defence was horrible in Week 1, allowing the Titans to put up a monster score and they were brought back to earth against a good Colts defence in Week 2. We think the Jags are great value getting 1.5 points at home.
New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (Monday 6.25am AEST)
The Saints started the season with a thrilling win at home over the Houston Texans but failed to back it up on the road in Week 2 as they lost on the road to the LA Rams. Starting quarterback Drew Brees suffered a hand injury in the first half of the clash against the Rams and is currently listed as questionable for the Week 3 clash in Seattle.
The Seahawks continued their hot start to the season with a two poitn win over the Steelers on the road. They are 2-0 and have won both games by a combined margin of just three points. They have had a good mix of both defence and offence through the first two games and quarterback Russel Wilson is starting to look back to his best after being hindered by injury last season.
Brees is staying behind in Los Angeles to see a hand specialist while the rest of the team flies to Seattle to start preparing for the Week 3 matchup so at this point it looks unlikely that the QB will start. In any case, we think the Seahawks should earn the win at home.
Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins (Tuesday 10.15am AEST)
The Redskins have battled two NFC East rivals through the opening two rounds and while they were competitive in both games, they currently have a 0-2 record. The road doesn’t get much easier from here as they face off against a rampant Chicago Bears defence on Tuesday morning. Washington managed to put up 21 points on the back of a strong game from Case Keenum but their defence couldn’t stop Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, who scored 31 points.
On the contrary, the Bears defence looked really solid in their Week 2 clash against Denver. They travelled to the Mile High City and earned a two point win, keeping the Broncos to just 14 points. The Bears offence still looks quite shaky under sophomore QB Mitch Trubisky, who went just 16/27 for 120 yards against the Broncos.
We love the unders here. Both of the Chicago Bears games so far this year have finished well under the 40 point mark, with their game against Green Bay tallying just 13 points and their game against Denver just 30.
