Great result for our NFL followers this week as we hit on 3/4 bets. We’ll look to go one better and provide the perfect round in Week 9 of the NFL season as we preview some of the key matchups of the weekend and give our betting tips below.
NFL Week 9 Betting Tips
Oakland Raiders at San Francisco 49ers (Friday 11.20am AEDT)
Not the most thrilling match-up to kick off Week 9 but still football on a Friday morning nonetheless. The Raiders and 49ers have just two wins between them this season and both sit at the very bottom of their respective divisions and conferences. However, both teams put up one of their most competitive performances of the season last week as the Raiders scored 28 points in a loss to the Colts while the 49ers went down by just 3 points to the Cardinals away from home.
It’s been a tough season for the 49ers since star recruit quarterback Jimmy Garropolo went down with a torn ACL in Week 3. C.J Beathard has stepped into the starting role and has been servicable in the role, however, the defence of the 49ers has been deplorable. They have kept their opponents to under 24 points on just one occasion this season but do have some favourable matchups coming up with Oakland, New York and Tampa Bay over the next three weeks.
Tough match to call here as both teams havent really looked like winning yet in 2018-19. Raiders QB Derek Carr did look like returning to some of his old form against the Colts last weekend though as he put up 244 yards and three touchdowns. Against a deplorable 49ers defence we think the Raiders could actually score quite easily on Friday.
Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints (Monday 8.25am AEDT)
What a great matchup here between two NFC giants in the undefeated Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints. The Saints were fantastic on the weekend, travelling to Minnesota and putting up 30 points in the win. Drew Brees was uncharacteristically quiet in the win, passing for just 120 yards and one touchdown as the Saints got the job done along the ground, rushing for over 100 yards in the win.
The Rams kept their undefeated streak alive in a tight game against the Green Bay Packers. Our pre-season pick for MVP, Todd Gurley, was once again dominant, rushing for 114 yards and adding a further 81 receiving yards and a touchdown catch in the two-point win. The Rams now move to 8-0 on the season so far and have all but locked up the NFC West Division with Seattle now trailing by 3.5 games.
Both teams have been getting the job done through offence so far this season. After Kansas City, the two teams sit 2nd and 3rd in most points per game in the 2018 season at around 33 point per game each. We think this will be another high scoring game much like the Rams contest against the Packers on the weekend and both teams should score 30.

Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots (Monday 12.20pm AEDT)
Another fantastic matchup here between arguably the best two quarterbacks in the league in Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. After losing in Week 2 and 3, Brady and the Patriots have won their last five games in a row to currently sit at 6-2 on the season. They have a comfortable lead in the AFC East and are well on their way to claiming the division title for the 10th consecutive year.
The Packers are desperate for a win here to stay relevant in an ultra-competitive NFC North. Chicago, Minnesota, Green Bay and Detroit are all separated by just one win after 8 Weeks this season and it’s likely only one of those teams will see playoff action in 2018-19. Aaron Rodgers has looked back to his best over the past two games, passing for over 700 yards in the two contests with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
The two teams haven't played since 2014 in which Rodgers and the Packers came away five-point winners in a thrilling game. The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl that season and it seems that the two teams are in similar situations again. The Packers start as 6.5-point underdogs here, which is a line they have covered in five of their seven games this season. We think Rodgers and co can travel to Gillette Stadium and keep this close on Monday.
Tennesse Titans at Dallas Cowboys (Tuesday 12.15pm AEDT)
Monday night football returns to Dallas this week as the Cowboys look to get back to .500 on the season with a win over the Titans. It’s been an inconsistent season to say the least for the Cowboys so far in 2018, currently maintaining a 3-4 record. They will be coming off a bye in Week 8 and with the added rest due to the Monday night game, they should be fired up in Week 9.
The Titans also have a 3-4 record but are still very much within striking distance of the AFC South leaders in the Houston Texans, who sit just 1.5 games clear. The Titans will also be coming off a bye in Week 8, which might not have come at the right time for them as they just put in a gallant performance in a one-point loss to the LA Chargers.
The Cowboys are 6.5-point favourites at home, which we think is too much considering they have covered that line on just two occasions this year. They have won just one game by double digits so far in 2018, a 40-7 win over the Jags. On the contrary, the Titans have lost by double digits in just one of their four losses so far.
