Ladies and gentlemen, we delve right back into the world of the LCK, as we continue to follow all the action of week 3 of the Korean split. After a really nice round last time (3/4 with map scores also), there’s a good amount of confidence leading into the week, so let’s see if ol’ Optimus can keep the train running!
Picking up Thursday at 6:00pm, are two of the best matches of the split so far. The ever turbulent Afreeca Freecs take on ROX tigers in what I am hoping will be a great one for AF. With the likes of MariN still in the roster, they are capable of anything and should surge forward against ROX. Afterwards we turn our attention towards two of the best teams in the world, KT Rolster and Samsung Galaxy. Expect the action to be fierce as each attempts to claim valuable points for the final stages.
Afreeca Freecs vs ROX Tigers (Thursday June 15th 6:00pm)
Afreeca Freecs will face off against ROX Tigers, and with two teams who are just as unorthodox as each other, anything is possible here. ROX look good, they look comfortable, and after a 2-0 victory against BBQ, they can put up quite a challenge here. While I give props to ROX’s recent performance, I still don’t think they are quite ready to beat AF. As mentioned earlier, with one of the best top lanners in the team, and capable of demolishing SKT when they are on point, expect them to come through here and hold off the surge of ROX Tigers.
KT Rolster T1 vs Samsung Galaxy (Thursday June 15th 9:00pm)
Samsung Galaxy… a team that went from #45 in the global rankings in the year, to now being considered #2-#3 in the world. They have made absolute mindblowing progress this year, and while they were unfortunate to end up finishing third, they took a hell of a lot to take down. I’m still unsure about KT Rolster. They have the capabilities of almost winning world finals, yet seem to really struggle in week splits, probably due to overconfidence. If Samsung’s mid-laner Crown is on fire, expect this to be an easy one for Samsung to pick-up.
Otherwise, that’s it for the next couple of days. With more action continuing for the next 6 weeks, you can expect a lot more value coming out as we look towards who the new Korean champions might be (please MVP…. please…). Happy punting!
