There’s a quality program at Doomben this Saturday to headline racing in Queensland. The rail is in the TRUE position throughout, and this is the first time back here since 9 September, so watch and monitor for any bias if possible – selections are for a GOOD/SOFT track.

Race 2: Anamoe 2022 BM78 2000m at 1:13pm AEDT
(3) BLACKCOMB ($2.60) – looks a great bet early in the card. Since the change in stable she’s really hit a purple patch of form. She was a very good winner three back over the mile at Wyong in BM64 grade when she had to really knuckle down late to get past the fav OAKFIELD PRINCE (since won / big gaps to third) before going to Warwick Farm two back (staying at the mile) where she flopped out last, gave them a big head start, but warmed up late to miss by 1L. She then went up to 1800m LS in the same grade as today when she was poorly away again before weaving through to the outside and hit the line hard to win (loved the chase / was strong over the line). She looks like she wants every bit of 2000m to my eye and she gets A. Mallyon on board for the Lees stable. She’ll likely get back from the wide gate, but there looks enough tempo to give her a chance. Hard to beat (3 units win)
(3) BLACKCOMB - Win
$2.60 (3 Units)
Race 4: Ladbrokes Sir Dragonet 2020 Plate Class 3 at 2:23pm AEDT
(3) MICRO ($13 / $3.70) – I think this guy has somewhat gone under the radar early markets. He produced a slashing finale first up over 1200m at Toowoomba behind POCKET FULL (since won again) before going to 1300m LS beaten 3.5L by BLACKMAX (also here). Absolutely nothing went right for him that day – he was shuffled back to near last turning for home after being caught in traffic, then raced tight for large portions of the straight and never really seen daylight until the last 100-200m. I thought he hit the line nicely and was a sneaky good run all things considered. I hope he gets a softer run / has a bit of luck from the wide draw today. He arrives third-up, will be fitter, and looks like he’ll enjoy the extra trip (just doesn’t want it too wet). Good roughie (1 unit e/w)
(3) MICRO - E/W
$13/$3.70 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Ladbrokes It 3YO 1200m at 4:12pm AEDT
(3) ABOUNDING ($3.50) – next best bet of the day in QLD! I’m usually not keen on trial form, but she’s trialled up as good as they can leading into this. She’s gone over 1000m on Tuesday, sat off them and picked them up to win without ever being touched (excellent piece of work). She looks an above average filly and has form around TIGER SHARK, APPIN GIRL, and IN EVIDENCE (all of which have won / run well since). First up last prep she ran second to APPIN GIRL who since won again and was then narrowly beaten in the Spirit of Boom Classic behind CIFRADO (who then won the Sires Produce and was good in a J. J. Atkins). She clearly has the best 2YO form leading into this, so if she takes any sort of improvement in her 3YO season, she will be hard to beat here. Keen she runs well (2.5 units win).
(3) ABOUNDING - Win
$3.50 (2.5 Units)
Race 9: Ladbrokes Communities BM80 1600m at 5:42pm AEDT
(11) EAGLES CRAG ($2.35) – best bet of the day in QLD! Very good return first up over 1500m when running second to COTTEE (since won very well / big gaps to third) with a three week freshen before today’s assignment. He has a great second up record with 2 wins and a placing from 4 attempts, gets out to the mile, draws the pole, and maps for a beautiful run in transit. Comes up in grade but plummets 4kgs at the weights for doing so. If he takes improvement from the first up run and goes on with it, he’s awfully hard to beat! (4 units win)
(11) EAGLES CRAG - Win
