Doomben Racing Tips: Saturday, July 13th 2024
Race 4: Ross Smith 40 Years Of Service BM68 1200m – 1:38pm (AEST)
(1) I See You Coming $2.40: Just about picks himself after PAYLINE franked the form midweek since his first-up effort. He was held-up at a key stage that day and arguably should’ve won. He was strong through the line, so the extra 100m will suit, and he goes well on a soft track which he’ll likely get today. He draws a lovely gate to map close to the speed and pop out on turning for home. He rises 2kgs at the weights, but this is easier company than LS. Looks hard to beat.
(13) Enabler $20/$5.50: he looks the value in the race and I’m going to save on him. He arrives third-up hitting peak fitness and comes out of a key form race behind HURT SO GOOD who since won again. He too goes from 1100m out to 1200m which suits, and he draws a low gate to sit midfield / behind the speed for a lovely run in transit. I loved the way he hit the line LS as he was doing his best work late. Third-up last prep he was a well-backed favourite (SP’d $2.50) before being forced to race 3WNC for large portions of the race which ultimately took its toll (still ran second / was good). Blow out hope.
(14) Orients Secret $14: 4YO who loves 1200m and is hard fit now being fourth up run. Sticky gate, but KWT knows how to get them home. Sneaky chance.
(1) I See You Coming
$2.40 (4 Units)
Race 8: XXXX BM85 1600m - 4:08pm (AEST)
(9) Cinque Torri $4.80: the drier the better for him, but he has a good record on soft tracks too. Two-back he led them up on a hot speed over 1650m at Doomben (some 5.5L above average to the 600m) and was only just beaten by THIS’LLBETHEONE (also here) in the shadows of the post (beat third comfortably / ties in with RISING PACIFIC and ROGUE BEAR). He then went to 1540m on the poly track at the Gold Coast LS and was a dominant winner beating his opposition by 7.3L eased down (he again set a strong tempo and could’ve won by further, but the jock was kind to him inside the final 100m / beat home THIS’LLBETHEONE). He comes down 3kgs to help offset the rise in grade, draws a perfect gate, will roll forward and likely lead them up, and Kyle Wilson-Taylor jumps back on board. He looks to be flying and his racing pattern means he’ll likely have a head start on key dangers MADAME ODETTE and RISING PACIFIC. Hard to get past.
(15) Madame Odette $3.70: Very ordinary when resuming, but back to her best last start finishing second. May have needed those two runs as she peaks third up with 2 wins from 3 attempts. Another one I’d prefer on the dry, but goes okay on soft. Danger.
(13) Rising Pacific $6.50: 4YO who has been far from disgraced bar the run two back. Hit the line nicely last start and goes well over this trip. Keep safe.
(9) Cinque Torri
$4.80 (1.5 Units)
