Race 3 Ladbrokes BM85 1615m at 2:23pm AEDT
(3) Eaglemont is one of the bets of the day across the country! He’s been up for a while, but his runs have been well spaced to keep him fresh. Three-back he won a BM75 over this distance with 61kgs on his back when TITANIUM could’ve beaten him but he was strong through the line and there were nice gaps behind. He then went to the Rosehill Country Classic over a mile and was forced back from a wide draw before being held up for a considerable period of time, finally finding clear air, and hit the line hard to run sixth (LION’S ROAR since beaten 0.5L in a G2 and won a G3 last week and WITHOUT REVENGE has run second to ACQUITTED). He went to 2000m LS and was forced back from a wide gate again before rattling home to just miss ZEGALO (big gaps behind). He draws a much better gate today in a race that’s got half as many runners so I have him mapped right behind the leaders instead of giving his rivals such a big head start. Keen.

Race 5 BRC Membership Plus BM75 1350m at 3:33pm AEDT
(4) Midnight in Tokyo looks the bet of the day in Queensland! She’s returned in great order this prep and arrives here fifth-up and at peak fitness. She looks incredibly well placed with so many things in her favour. She’s got a great record at the track, goes well with the sting out of the track, building a nice association with the jockey, and gets in well at the weights after the claim. She was an excellent winner three-back over 1200m in BM78 F&M grade beating GLORIOUS RUBY with a very good TOF before going to 1350m in the same grade and beating all bar TOJAKI after SP’ing a $1.90 pop (good gaps to third). They took her to 1400m LS and she looked the winner before DREAM HOUR went whooshka and earned itself a ticket into the Stradbroke (looks a very smart type). I’ve got her mapped midfield from the middle draw and I think she’s too good for them. Hard to beat.

Race 7 Magic Millions Vo Rogue Plate 1350m at 4:52pm AEDT
(2) Chrysaor is the best weighted horse under SWP conditions and he’s trialled up super leading in. 1350m first-up looks ideal and he draws the pole to sit handy to the speed. He has form around CYLINDER and KING COLORADO last prep (G1 form) before beating SNOWMAN at G2 level over the mile about 2 months ago. 60 odd day freshen up and two trials (as referenced) will hopefully have him sharp enough for this. The only query will be the wet track if the rain arrives, but happy to play his way at the price and find out. Good value runner.

Race 9 Magic Millions The Buffering 1350m at 6:12pm AEDT
(1) Zoustyle is the best horse in the race. Comes back from G3 grade where he led and beat ROTHFIRE LS over 1200m, and only goes up 2kgs at the weights for having done so. Draws an ideal gate for the Maloney and Gollan combination to sit OSL or camp right behind TAMERLANE and THE FACE who look likely leaders. He’s got a good record fresh (4 weeks between runs with a dominant trial win in the meantime), goes well with the cut out of the ground, and is 7 from 8 at Doomben. Small query on whether he runs out a strong 1350m, but this looks an ideal set up to find out. Should give us a sight.
