Super Bowl LIV Betting Tips
San Francisco 49ers vs Kansas City Chiefs
Monday, 3rd February, 10.30am (AEDT) – Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
It’s a battle of two completely different teams in the Super Bowl this year, as it so often is. The Chiefs have made their living with a high powered offence lead by the reigning league MVP, Patrick Mahomes. They back their passing game and their offence to put up enough points to beat anyone, and more often than not, that’s exactly what they do.
On the other hand we have the San Francisco 49ers. While the 49ers have been responsible for some of the most dominant offensive performances of the year, their bread and butter is their stingy defence and their ability to control the clock with their elite running game.
Deciding which game style is going to prevail in the Super Bowl is the hard part and it will likely depend on which team can take the early lead. If the 49ers get up early, they will run the ball all night and try to control the clock, forcing the Chiefs to chase tail. If the Chiefs take the early advantage, expect them to continue to roll throughout the game.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs struggled through a patch early in the season where star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was out with injury, but since his return, they have rolled through the regular season and were fantastic in the AFC Playoffs. After his return in Week 10, the Chiefs won eight of nine games to finish the regular season, with the star passing for an average of 264.4 yards and 11 touchdowns in that span.
Injuries to key position players have been a bit of a hindrance throughout the season for the Chiefs, however, they look to have a clean bill of health in the lead up to the Super Bowl despite a few niggles to tight end Travis Kelce, which shouldn’t be an issue come Monday.
The Chiefs have been able to come back from big deficits in both of their playoff games so far. Against the Texans in the divisional round, they trailed by 24 points before going on a 51-7 run to absolutely blow their opponents out of the water. A week later in the Conference Championship against the Titans, Kansas City trailed 17-7 before making a run in the second quarter to set themselves up for a 11 point win.
Mahomes passed for an average of 307.5 yards over those two wins, and we see no reason why he shouldn’t clear his line again in the big game. He should sling it regardless of if the Chiefs are up or down.

San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have been one of the most dominant teams in the NFL this season and their form carried over into their two playoff games. In the divisional round, they pumped the Vikings by 17 points at home on the back of a strong running game by Tevin Coleman.
It was another dominant running game, this time by Raheem Mostert, which helped them get the win over the Green Bay Packers in the Conference Round. Mostert racked up 220 yards and a ridiculous four touchdowns in the win.
There’s no doubt that the 49ers will look to play a run heavy game once again in the Super Bowl. However, with the potential return of Coleman, and the continued work of Matt Breida out of the backfield, we aren’t sure if Mostert’s workload to be as big on Monday.
His dominant game in the Conference Championship pushed his line all the way up to 75.5, which we think is a little high.
Mostert UNDER 75.5 Rush Yards

Prediction
What a tough game to call. The Chiefs start as slight favourites but how hard is it to look past the form of the 49ers at the moment. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo hasn’t been called upon much in the playoffs but he is more than capable if his team gets in a hole. We think that is unlikely though, the 49ers defence and run game should control the game in the first half and give them a lead to build upon.
