Australian Open Day 4 Betting Tips

H Habib vs U Humbert

Hady Habib has been one of the stories of the tournament so far, but can his dream run in Melbourne continue?

Habib is ranked outside of the world’s Top 200, but has played some great tennis in the back end of 2024 and beginning of 2025. The 26-year-old finished off 2024 with a Challenger title in Temuco, had a couple of wins in Canberra Qualifying a couple of weeks ago, before making his way through qualifying here. He then pulled off one of the bigger upsets of the first round of the tournament, defeating Bu Yunchaokete in straight sets. He was only broken once for the entirety of the match, and that was when he was serving for the match. He was able to respond well, taking the third set tiebreak 8-6.

I do have some concerns for Habib today though, as this is a significant step up in opposition quality with UgoHumbert across the net. Humbert’s confidence was nearing a career high in the back end of 2024, having reached the final of the ATP Paris Masters 100, losing to Alexander Zverev. He sits ranked 14th in the world, having reached a career high of 13 less than a year ago. It was a solid enough first round showing for Humbert, defeating another qualifier Matteo Gigante in straight sets.

Personally, my preference here lies with Humbert. He is a significant upgrade in almost every way to anyone Habib has played recently on tour, and given the occasion and experience edge as well, I anticipate Humbert will win and win well here.
