2024 World Series Of Darts Finals Preview & Tips
Preview
The format of this tournament sees the top eight seeds from the World Series Of Darts throughout 2024, as well as nine Order Of Merit Qualifiers from the World Series, four from the PDC, and the rest is made up of the highest rated Tour Card holders. It brings together the worlds best and in form players, making it a great contest.
The field is stacked with quality, headlined by the two best players in the world, Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, with Littler, the teenage sensation, making his debut in this tournament in what will be must see TV, but he will have to get past Humphries first, who is the #1 in the world and is the best player in the world at the moment.
In terms of Australian interest, that will come via Damon Heta. 'The Heat' is now one of the better players in the PDC and his 2024 form has been relatively solid and he does tend to play very well in these big tournaments. He has a tricky start to the tournament, taking on German giant Gabriel Clements in the opening round.
Outright Betting Tips
I think there are three key chances to win the title. As mentioned above, it's hard seeing Luke Humphries or Luke Littler not taking the prize so I'll start there, beginning with Humphries, who is the current world #1, the reigning world champion. We haven't seen dominance, sustained dominance, like this in some time. MVG struggled to be as dominant as this and before him, it was Phil Taylor. That is the company that Humphries is in and his record in these big tournaments has been outstanding. He's the one to beat.
The narrative is clearly Luke Littler, who is making his debut in this tournament. He loves playing in these events and he loves putting on a show. He is the best nine dart hitter this year and if he hits one this weekend, Amsterdam will go off. But, I will say in recent tournaments he has played like a guy that just expects to get it done and when he doesn't get it done, he loses concentration and can play like a frustrated player, which is never good. But, he has the talent to blow this field away.
I am very interested in Gerwyn Price. The Welshman and world champion has been off the boil for 12-18 months but the dangerous thing with 'Gezzy' is that when he is on, he is near unbeatable and his 180 hitting can be something else. He has been battling injury and form in recent times but given how good he can be, and the fact he demolished Littler in the Australian Masters Final 8-1, that demonstrates that when he is on, he's dangerous.
The value for mine could Dimiti Van Den Burgh. The Belgium player won the UK Open earlier this year and while his form has been hot and cold throughout the year, he is a very capable player and world class when right and has shown signs of life in terms of quality, the example being that major win. He has a tough opening round against Chris Dobey, but I think he can get through that game and from there, anything is possible.
Also Consider:
Luke Littler $4.50
Gerwyn Price $8.50
Dimiti Van Den Burgh $41
Luke Humphries to Win
