Round 3 of the 2024 AFL Premiership season is another cracker, with eight games on the cards over the Easter weekend. First up is a Thursday night clash between last year's grand finalists in the Lions and the Magpies, with both clubs still looking to open their accounts this season. Footy fans have been blessed with a double-header on Good Friday with the Kangaroos vs Blues getting us underway at 4:20pm (AEDT). There will be double-headers to follow on both Saturday and Sunday, with perhaps the Power vs Demons the juciest clash among them. Finally, Round 3 will conclude on Easter Monday with the traditional Hawks vs Cats battle at a packed MCG. This is also the second of the early bye rounds this season and it will be the Giants and the Suns who sit out this weekend.

2024 AFL Round 3 Tips
Thursday March 28th
Still without a win between them, the Lions and the Magpies will come together for a grand final rematch in the Round 3 opener on Thursday night. The Lions (0-2) are coming off a bye and will welcome Lachie Neale back to the fold, while the Magpies (0-3) will likely shake things up at the selection table.
Friday March 29th
The Kangaroos and the Blues will do battle in the first of two games on Good Friday. The Kangaroos have shown signs in both games to date but are still without a win in 2024, whereas the Blues are 2-0 and are fresh off their bye.
The Dockers have hit the ground running with two wins in as many games and will look to make it three on the spin against the winless Crows. There's juicy matchups all over the field in this one, headlined by the likely Young vs Dawson matchup in the midfield.
Saturday March 30th
The Bombers fought the fight in Round 2 but couldn't come away with the chocolates against the Swans in a physical affair. They now front up against the Saints in Round 3 in a battle between two teams who have split their opening two games of the season.
Headlining Saturday's action is a mouth-watering battle between two likely contenders in the Power and the Demons. The Power are 2-0 after taking care of a couple of lowly opponents, while the Demons are 1-1. It was an epic contest between these two last season and you can expect more of the same this time around.
Sunday March 31st
Sunday's double-header begins wtih the Bulldogs vs Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The Doggies are the overwhelming favourites to make it back-to-back wins after making light work of the Suns last weekend. Will this be another straightforward victory?
The Tigers are now 0-3 under Adem Yze and it doesn't get any easier this weekend when they take on the undefeated Swans. Making the task even more difficult, injuries continue to pile up at Punt Road. The Swans will be the heavy favourites here.
Monday April 1st
Closing our Round 3 is the traditional Easter Monday clash between the Hawks and the Cats at the MCG. The Hawks have been ordinary to start the season and the Cats have been anything but. However, the Hawks have made a knack of defying the odds in this matchup.
