Match Preview
After a spirited upset in Round 2, the Roosters struggled for consistency last week on the road against the Warriors. In a tight contest, they only have themselves to blame as they completed at 70% with just a 47% share of possession. This meant that they made fewer metres, contributing to them to giving up a 6-4 HT lead. There were positives though; their attack is improving and will only get better as evidence by their 5 line breaks.
The Titans captured their first victory of the season with a spirited 26-6 win over the Knights at home. After a poor display in their opening match of the season, improvement was required, and they delivered it. Their 81% completion rate gave a strong platform to make more total metres and post-contact metres. They still require improvement, most notably in reducing their 45 missed tackles.
The Titans have a lot of factors to overcome to win this fixture. Already without a host of key players, further omissions have hurt their cause. On top of that, they have lost the past 11 fixtures against the Roosters and won just 1 game in the past 14 matches. Add into the mix that the home side is slowly finding combinations and you can see why the odds are the way they are. Given it is still early in the season, there is little confidence in either team.
The Titans can easily come out and concede 50 points as they could cause an upset. The Roosters are no lock either; despite improved performances in the past two weeks and an improving roster (with an experienced coach leading the way), doubts remain. This game has all the hallmarks of one to avoid. Rather, invest on either team winning and an exciting contest being the overall outcome…that’s if you must have bet in this game.
