Flemington will host a nine-race program on Saturday and with multiple Listed races on the program - it is a meeting worth following. There has been a little bit of rain around in recent days and the track is predicted to be a Heavy 8. Race 1 on the card starts at 12:05pm (AEST).

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday July 20th 2024
Race 1: Byerley Handicap - 12:05pm (AEST)
(1) Stay Silent will find this race easier than the Listed G’Carmichael Stakes Last start where she stuck on well for 3rd after being on pace. He gets Shinn on who is in unbelievable form and he has seen Flemington before where he placed in good fashion. In his second career start at this track he was beaten less than 2L and he stuck on well that day too. If he leads, he will be hard to pass.
(2) Politely Dun will be a few lengths off Stay Silent in the run but has the ability to run on well in his races. He has placed on a wet track before and the extra distance looks suitable.
(3) Red Aces will appreciate Flemington and will be running on down the outside. He was near last on the turn when running 3rd at Seymour last start.
(1) Stay Silent

Race 7: Deane Lester Flemington Cup - 3:45pm (AEST)
(3) Speycaster ticks a lot of boxes. In a fast paced race at Rosehill last start he finished off nicely to win at Rosehill on the Heavy and he faces similar conditions here with a couple of pacemakers in the race. He is in form having won 5 of his last 10 races and 2 of those were on very wet tracks which we might get here. The only real query is that he has not placed over this distance but he is fitter now.
(6) Taramansour is having his first try on the Heavy but has been okay on the Soft previously. He was wide when 2nd at Flemington last start and is the clear second pick.
(5) Hit The Road Jack won well at The Bool last start in the Highweights Handicap and a Heavy tracks suits. He drops 400m in distance but is one of the fittest horses in the race.
(3) Speycaster
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 8: VRC Member Peter Drake Plate - 4:20pm (AEST)
(2) King Magnus likes wet tracks and is overs in this. He has a good winning strike rate despite not having won in the last 9 months and Flemington is a track he enjoys. He was 4th in the Winter Championship last time behind in-form Munhammek and he was sold to the line. He goes up in weight and goes up in distance but is fully wound up and has a good barrier in 2. Houston is on again after riding him earlier in the year and she has placed on him previously.
(6) Cadmus is the likely fav and can run on well in his races. Its his first try on the Heavy which is concerning and he was also unplaced at his only appearance here. Good winning strike rate though and can’t rule him out.
(1) Smokin’ Romans has won on the Heavy before and can save ground on the inside. Likes this distance though and can place at odds.
(2) King Magnus E/W
