NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday, February 28th 2024
Dallas Mavericks at Cleveland Cavaliers
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 11am AEDT
The Mavericks were riding a seven-game road trip when they visited Indianapolis on Sunday but were absolutely no match for the Pacers as they went down by 22 points. The Mavs are now 1-1 since resuming from the All-Star break, with their win coming against the Suns at home. Elsewhere, the Cavaliers were able to snap a two-game slide with a win on the road against the Wizards on Sunday. It was also their first win from three outings post break and one they’ll be keen to build on when they return to Cleveland on Wednesday. The Cavs have been on fire at home recently with 10 wins from their last 12 games at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, including three wins in a row against teams in the West. I expect them to build on that streak here and cover the small spread.

New Orleans Pelicans at New York Knicks
Madison Square Garden, 11:30am AEDT
The Pelicans were able to secure a big win in their first game since the All-Star break when they defeated the Rockets at home by 22 points, although their two home games after that certainly left a lot to be desired. They now hit the road and will enter Wednesday’s slate on a two-game losing streak, both of which came against teams in the East. Meanwhile, the Knicks have been in a bit of a funk of their own of late having lost five of their last seven games. In saying that, they’ve been solid since play resumed with two wins from three outings, and their sole loss came against the league-leading Celtics. And although Julius Randle remains sidelined with injury, I’m surprised to see the Knicks priced as the home underdogs here, especially considering the lacklustre performances the Pels have dished up in their past two. With that said, I’m happy to take the Knicks to defend homecourt.

Houston Rockets at OKC Thunder
Paycom Center, 2pm AEDT
The Rockets and the Thunder will be meeting for the second time in four days when they lock horns at the Paycom Center on Wednesday. Their meeting on Sunday was at the Toyota Center in Houston and it was the visiting Thunder who came away with a 13-point win (123-110). That win stretched the Thunder’s current win streak to five, which is now the fourth time this season they’ve gone on such a run. In contrast, the Rockets have been unable to win back-to-back games since January 3rd, which tells you just about all you need to know about their recent form. Making matters worse, the Rockets will be the visiting side in Wednesday’s meeting and they currently hold a 5-22 road record this season, which is the worst in the Western Conference, and the second worst in the entire league. Needless to say, the Thunder should be able to come away with a very comfortable win here.
OKC Thunder -9.5
