Caulfield gets another chance to host midweek racing on a week which sees mostly Dry tracks around the state of Victoria. Runners will start Race 1 at 1pm (AEST), with the last race starting at 5:05pm. It's a handy mid-week card too with some runners having an eye on feature races in a few weeks’ time.

Caulfield Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 17th 2024
Race 4: Whisky, Wine & Fire Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(10) Togetherforever has placed in all 3 runs on Good tracks and was way too good on a Soft surface at Ballarat last start when Kah was on top. She sticks with him and from barrier 5 he should be able to settle around 4th in the run like he did during his latest outing. Since coming over from SA he hasn’t looked back and it looks like he has improved even more and gotten stronger. It's not a bad race though so I might play the win and the place.
(1) Calico Jack ran well in a Donald trial behind Attrition last week and from the inside draw can place at double figure odds. Having his first run for the Dabernig stable after coming from the Maher & Eustace Team.
(2) Jewel Bay is very consistent and is first up. He runs well fresh and he is versatile in the run.
(10) Togetherforever E/W
$3.30/$1.50 (1U/2U)
Race 5: Senet Gambling Law Experts Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)
(3) Nokhbah started her career by settling back and running on but now she is trying her luck racing on pace so it will be interesting to see what the Hayes Team decides to do here. She hasn’t been defeated far from her last couple and she does seem to like Dry tracks. She has been punted hard in 3 of her 7 career starts which suggests she has talent and from barrier 5 she should get a nice run in this race. She is very quick and 1000m sees her out at this stage.
(4) Split Decision is probably better on rain-affected ground where she has won 3 races. She trialled well at Warwick Farm and gets Williams on.
(2) Circle of Magic likes Good tracks and has won 2 Flemington jumpouts in succession. Has won 2 from 5 starts when first up from a spell.
(3) Nokhbah E/W
$5.50/$2.10 (1 Unit)
Race 6: Ive Handicap - 3:55pm (AEST)
(5) Light Wish won three jumpouts in a row before smashing her rivals on debut after being backed into $1.70 late. The Nikki Burke trained filly settled in the “one-one” before Mertens pushed the button and she ran away with the race to win easily. She does look like a good horse and if she wins this, the team will have a decision to make whether to try her in a good race in a few weeks’ time or turn her out and wait for the Spring Carnival. Williams takes the rides this time on the Dry surface which she has already proven herself on. She has drawn wide in 10 so it will be interesting to see what the instructions are.
(1) Fragile Love has drawn inside which may not suit because she has been getting back in her races. Lane stays on and she should be strong to the line again.
(3) She’s Bulletproof is another who gets back and may race better on the Soft. She is proven at this distance though and gets Shinn on top.
(5) Light Wish
$2.10 (2 Units)
