BBL12 Renegades vs Stars Betting Tips
Meavel Stadium, Saturday 7.30pm (AEDT)
Melbourne Renegades
Predicted XI: Martin Guptill, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper, Aaron Finch, Jonathan Wells, Matt Critchey, Will Sutherland, Ruwantha Kellepotha, Tom Rogers, Kane Richardson, David Moody
The Renegades have defied expectations so far this season and currently sit in 5th place on the table with a 5-5 record. They were coming off back to back wins over the Stars and Hurricanes before putting up a spirited display against the Strikers in a loss on Tuesday night.
Sam Harper has been a revelation over the past few games, hitting a matchwinning 89 off 48 balls before compiling 63 off 36 in the loss to the Strikers. Having an in-form top order batsman is what the Gades desperately need with the absence of Shaun Marsh and Nic Maddinson, and Harper is filling that void at the moment.
Melbourne Stars
Predicted XI: Joe Clarke, Tom Rogers, Hilton Cartwright, Beau Webster, Nick Larkin, James Seymour, Clint Hinchliffe, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Luke Wood, Liam Hatcher, Adam Zampa
After missing the finals for the last two years in a row, the Stars are on the outer once again in BBL12. They have won just three games this season, picking up their 3rd win on Thursday night in a dominant performance with the ball against the Strikers. Bowling first, they bowled Adelaide out for just 108 before cruising to a win, losing just one wicket in the chase.
The Stars have been missing their big guns throughout the tournament, with the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Trent Boult now all out of the side. Despite the win against the Strikers, it’s hard to see a squad with this little star power being competitive on a night to night basis.
Match Predicted
Have to side with the Renegades here. Despite contrasting results in each of their last games, you have to think the Renegades are in better form at the moment. Sam Harper has found a gear none of knew he had over the past few games while Jonathan Wells has started to develop some form of late as well.
Back the Renegades to win their 2nd Melbourne derby of the season at odds of $1.73.
Same Game Multi
Kicking off our multi with Jonathan Wells to have a good game on Saturday night. The former Striker has an incredible record in 15 career games against the Stars, compiling 513 runs at an average of 57.0.
Combining Wells with Hilton Cartwright to score 20+. The hard hitting right hander resumed his place at No.3 in the Stars win over the Strikers and regained some form in the process, finishing with 16* in the small run chase. Like his odds back in the No.3 spot.
Finishing off with Thomas Rogers to take 1+ wicket in the match. The Renegade is the leading wicket-taker in the BBL this season with an incredible 17 through just 9 games. Has only gone wicketless once in those nine games.
Jonathan Wells 20+ Runs
Hilton Cartwright 20+ Runs
Thomas Rogers 1+ Wicket
