We had another huge week with our 2018-19 A-League betting tips with two winners ($2.50 & $1.91) from our three plays. Wellington Phoenix kicked things off with a 1-0 win against Melbourne City, while Perth Glory made light work of Newcastle Jets. However, Sydney FC couldn’t quite get it down against Melbourne Victory, eventually losing 2-1. We now shift our focus to this weekend’s action, which is Day 17 of the 2018-19 season. Good luck to everyone following!
A-League Day 17 Betting Tips
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory (Saturday 5:30pm AEDT)
We kick things off with our most confident play from this weekend, which is on the Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory game. Melbourne Victory won the earlier season match-up between these teams 4-1 at AAMI Park.
The Mariners season seems as if it was over before it started. They’ve won just one game for the entire season so far and have claimed just three draws to go along with 12 losses. It’s really been a horrific campaign from day one and doesn’t look like getting better anytime soon.
On the other hand, Melbourne Victory are going from strength to strength and look like they’re the team to beat once again. They’ve claimed 10 points from a possible 12 over their past four games and have banged in 12 goals in the process.
Melbourne Victory are by far the better team of the two in the match-up and should get the job done on the road. They’ve scored nine goals from their past two matches against Phoenix and have won each of those contests by three goals. We see this being another easy win for the Navy Blues.

Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix (Saturday 10pm AEDT)
Our second play from a busy Saturday comes from the heavyweight battle between Perth Glory and Wellington Phoenix. The earlier meeting between these teams this season ended in a stalemate in Wellington with both teams finding the back of the net on one occasion.
Perth Glory continue to get results week in and week out and retain their position on the top of the table. Their most recent victim the Newcastle Jets, who put up a decent fight but ultimately lost by two goals. Glory are now unbeaten in their last seven league matches and have lost just once all season.
Phoenix are another team in great form in the A-League. They bounced back from a rare loss against Sydney the weekend prior to last with a really good 1-0 home win against Melbourne City. Phoenix are now in sixth spot and can potentially jump to fourth if results fall their way.
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
Our third and final play from this weekends A-League match of the round between Sydney FC and Melbourne City. Sydney belted City in their first meeting at AAMI Park this season, winning by three goals to nil on enemy soil.
Sydney FC have again announced themselves as genuine contenders with a string of impressive performances. They may have lost narrowly to defending champions Melbourne Victory last weekend, but they’ve still picked up 21 of a possible 27 points over their last nine games. They’re currently in third spot on the table and have just about locked in a finals spot.
Melbourne City are coming into this game off a 1-0 away loss to Phoenix last weekend. It was a disappointing response to their thrilling 4-3 win against the Wanderers the weekend prior, but inconsistency has become something that City fans are all too familiar with.
Sydney are the much better outfit of the two here and really should claim all three points unless something unexpected happens. Simply put, $2 value for Sydney FC at home is always great value, especially against weaker opponents like City.
