BBL14 Sixers vs Thunder Betting Tips
SCG, Friday 17th January, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Sixers
The Sixers train continued to roll on Wednesday night as they downed the Strikers by three wickets on the road. Bowling first, the Sixers were led by Jack Edwards (2/22 off 3 overs) and spinner Todd Murphy, who took 2/2 off just one over to hold the Strikers to 5/182 off their 20 overs.
In reply, it was once again Steve Smith who was the catalyst for the Sixers, smashing 52 off just 31 balls to help his side to a victory with just one ball to spare, seven wickets down. Can’t see the Sixers making any drastic changes to the line-up after two strong wins in a row.
Predicted XI: Steve Smith, Josh Philippe, Kurtis Patterson, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Hayden Kerr, Joel Davies, Ben Dwarshuis, Sean Abbott, Todd Murphy
Thunder
The Thunder captured a fantastic win at home over the Scorchers on Monday night to lock up their place in the BBL14 finals. They now sit in third place with a 5-3 record, two games and percentage clear of the Brisbane Heat in fifth. Batting first, it was Sam Konstas who shone for the Thunder, scoring 53 off 42 balls as they put up 7/158 off their 20 overs.
Bowling was the key to success on MOnday night though, as the Thunder ripped through the Scorchers, cleaning them up for just 97 off 17.2 overs. Chris Green showed why he is one of the world’s best T20 spinners, taking 3/13 off his four overs.
Predicted XI: David Warner, Sam Konstas, Matthew Gilkes, Ollie Davies, Hugh Weibgen, Chris Green, George Garton, Nathan McAndrew, Tanveer Sangha, Muhammad Hasnain
Prediction
The Thunder are playing great cricket at the moment but it’s hard to look past the Sixers at home given the form their batting unit is in. They have matchwinners from top to bottom and in 26 games against the Thunder in BBL history, they have an absolutely dominant 18-7 record.
They are also undefeated at the Sydney Cricket Ground this season, going a perfect 3-0 so far. They also beat the Thunder earlier in the season when they met at Sydney Showground.

Sean Abbott played just his fourth game of the season in the win over the Strikers on Wednesday night and while he didn’t take any wickets in that game, he has had an impressive season in limited game time. Took six wickets in his three previous games and has a ridiculous record at the SCG.
In 51 career games at the SCG, Abbot has a whopping 88 wickets at a ridiculous average of just 16.44. Back him to take 2+ on Friday night.
