We’re onto Week 7 of the Darts Premier League and it’s a very tight leaderboard with just one good win or one bad loss, the difference between Playoffs and relegation! We were back on track last week with our main bets going 3-1 for a nice profitable evening. Hopefully we can continue that form this week in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. I like the look of our multi for this week and we are certainly due to hit one!
Let’s take a look at our preview and betting tips for Premier League Darts Week 7.
Premier League Darts Week 7 Betting Tips
James Wade vs Jelle Klaasen
An interesting match to kick off the evening between two contrasting styles. James Wade is called “The Machine” for a reason – he’s very methodical and emotionless which produces a consistent results without too much excitement. On the other hand, Jelle Klaasen has a style that is very unconventional. He plays extremely fast and unpredictable which can produce some exciting results, but he lacks that consistency. It’s a big game for both players, but especially Klaasen who finds himself on the bottom of the table after a loss to Barney last week. He does have a chance here against James Wade who has been poor the last few weeks in losses to Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall. His checkouts haven’t been to his usual standard and if he is off the boil here, I think Klaasen can cause an upset. In terms of betting, I think there’s two markets we can take a look at. Firstly, these two guys have the lowest averages in the league, with both around the 94 mark. The average line for each of them has been set at 95.5. If you’re playing an MVG or Peter Wright, then they can raise your own average due to their superior finishing, but if you’re up against another player with a low average, then it’s not going to give it any boost. I think Klaasen is capable of anything, so I’m happy to play Wade on the average unders. I also think the 180s line is worth a small nibble. These two have the second and third fewest 180s in the league this season, so we can take the unders on a 5.5 line.
TIP: James Wade average under 95.5 - $1.83 at Sportsbet
TIP: James Wade vs Jelle Klaasen under 5.5 180s - $1.83 at Sportsbet
Peter Wright vs Dave Chisnall
Coming off a huge week winning the UK Open, it was understandable that Peter Wright was a little flat last week. His game was well down on his recent brilliance, but he still got the job done against James Wade to jump to the top of the Premier League table. He’ll be looking to improve on that performance and he should be able to maintain on top with a win here against Dave Chisnall. It’s been a mixed season for Chizzy, but he was no match for Gary Anderson who blew him away early last week. It’s hard to see him really challenging Peter Wright here. It’s tempting to take the overs on 180s, but Wright nearly went the whole night without throwing one last week. There’s not a lot in the price but will stick with Wright to win which looks pretty safe.
TIP: Peter Wright to win - $1.62 at CrownBet
Raymond van Barneveld vs Gary Anderson
It was a hard-fought win last week for Barney against Jelle Klaasen but there were some great signs with a couple of big ton finishes, including a majestic 154. Barney would be frustrated with his mid-table position as his scoring has been pretty good this season, but his checkout percentage of 32.32% is the worst in the league. The Dutchman won’t be able to let chances escape if he’s to challenge world number two Gary Anderson who was in good touch last week with a comfortable win over Dave Chisnall. Anderson was smashing the board early, but took the foot off the pedal a little late in the match. Coming from his home town in Glasgow last week, Ando will go from hero to villain as he takes on Barney in Rotterdam in the Netherlands this week. While Barney will have the support, he’ll have to play at his best to stay with Anderson. I don’t mind the bet on Anderson to win, but I am just concerned of a potential draw if Barney plays well in front of his fans. So I think I’ll focus on the 180s markets. Both players have been good on the maximums this year with 24 for Barney and 25 for Anderson over six matches at an average of around four each per match. Anderson in particular has been lethal the last two weeks, with 8 two weeks ago, and 4 in quick time at the start of the match before dropping away a little last week. We’re getting a good price on the over 7.5 line which I think is a good bet especially if Barney can keep it close and drag it to 12 legs. The alternative play would be to take Anderson at the over 3.5 line. It’s probably a little safer but the price reflects this.
TIP: Raymond van Barneveld vs Gary Anderson over 7.5 180s - $2.10 at Sportsbet
Kim Huybrechts vs Adrian Lewis
It’s been a season of missed opportunities for Kim Huybrechts. He is yet to find his first victory of the season, despite clawing himself off the bottom of the table with three draws from six matches. He should’ve picked up another point last week for a draw against MVG but battled with nerves again in clutch moments to let it slip through his fingers. Even so, pushing MVG to the last leg is good form no matter how you look at it. The form of Adrian Lewis has also been pretty strong over the last three weeks. Lewis pulled a draw against MVG before he was blown away when Peter Wright was unstoppable. He bounced back last week with a very strong 7-4 win over Phil Taylor and looks to be getting back close to his best. His checkout percentage of 41.33% is the best in the league. Despite that, he’s still sitting just one win ahead of the relegation zone, so he won’t want to be dropping this match. Huybrechts has proven that he’s no push over, so again I expect him to push it all the way, but I think Lewis will have the edge in the end.
TIP: Adrian Lewis to win - $1.90 at CrownBet
Phil Taylor vs Michael van Gerwen
It’s the greatest player of all time against the world number one! The showcase match of the evening and we need to cherish these matches more and more as there won’t be many more in future with Taylor retiring at the end of the year. Neither were at their best last week so it will be interesting to see how they lift for this feature contest. MVG was returning from a back injury and took a little bit to find his range, but got away with a win against Kim Huybrechts. Having said that, he did average 106.30 and six maximums which is not too shabby! I expect Taylor to bring his best for this battle and a draw at looks a tempting price for a speculative nibble. However I think the best bet for this match is for MVG in the 180s market. Taylor was pretty good with four 180s last week, but before that, he’d only found six in the first four matches, which I feel is giving us a good price on MVG at the 180s handicap.
TIP: Michael van Gerwen most 180s -1.5 vs Phil Taylor - $2.08 at CrownBet (BEST BET)
TIP: Michael van Gerwen vs Phil Taylor – Draw - $6.00 at William Hill
Multi: Klaasen/Wade u7.5 180s + Wright to win + Barney/Ando o5.5 180s + MVG most 180s - $4.10 at CrownBet
