2016 US Open Tennis Preview & Betting Tips

August 29th 2016, 12:22pm, By: CrossRoads

The 2016 US Open begins this week and we will be previewing both Women's and Men's tournaments in our latest tennis betting tips article.

2016 US Open - Men's Betting Tips

The US Open in Flushing Meadows, NY begins this week and the usual suspects are the favourites in the Men's tournament. Last year's event saw the favourite Novak Djokovic take home the grand prize over Roger Federer in a four set battle. Novak will head into this tournament as favourite once again over the improved Andy Murray. However, Novak comes into NYC a little more vulnerable than usual. After an early exit at Wimbledon due to injury, then another loss at the Olympics, we could start asking the question is Novak ready for the task ahead?

Andy Murray on the other hand is coming off victory at Wimbledon and also won gold at the Olympics. Andy has reached a point in his tennis career where he isn’t just a qualifier and sneaky chance, but a genuine contender.

The rest of the draw will certainly challenge the top players at times, especially the likes of Milos Raonic who looks like value. Stan Wawrinka is always a threat with his big serves aswell, but he just needs to stay consistent.

- Betting Tip: Andy Murray to win - $3 at Sportsbet
- Roughy Tip: Milos Raonic  to win - $21 at Sportsbet

2016 US Open - Women's Betting Tips

It’s hard to look past Serena Williams in any tournament and in her home country, she certainly turns it on. Willliams has won three of the past four US Open and she is about to break Steffi Graf’s record for consecutive weeks at world number one. However, Williams has an injury complaint that kept her out of the Cincinnati. Will that affect her chances this week?

Regardless, Serena can't be underestimated and will no doubt still be as powerful and determined to win the title in her home county. She might have have step it up to get past Angelique Kerber, however. Kerber won in Cincinnati and is looking like a real threat at the moment. If Serena is off her game, Kerber looks like a chance to win the 2016 US Open.

Others who are a chance include Garbine Muguruza, but she's inconsistent and could either be at her best or worst in any given tournament. Madison Keys is another local favourite who is now ranked in the top 10 and is a chance to upset some of the favourites.

- Betting Tip: Angelique Kerber to win - $8 at Sportsbet
- Roughy Tip: Madison Keys - $19 at Sportsbet
