Titans vs Dolphins Preview & Betting Tips: NRL Round 5 2025

April 4th 2025, 6:35pm, By: Ben Bridge

Titans vs Dolphins Betting Tips

The NRL Super Saturday Sandwich game will see a Queensland Derby on the Gold Coast, as the impressive Titans get a chance to push towards the top 4 with a win here over the hapless Dolphins. The Dolphins are one of just two teams without a win over the first month of the season, and it doesn’t get any easier here on the road against the Titans, who have started the season in terrific form. Let’s dig in and find some value.

Match Preview

The Titans stormed home against the Roosters last week, scoring four tries in the last 20 minutes to smash the Chooks in Sydney, 30-12. Jayden Campbell has been terrific to start the season, and it will be interesting to see what the Titans do when Keiran Foran returns from injury. Campbell scored another try last week, whilst also running for 177 metres, kicking for 523 metres, making 18 tackles, and kicking 5/6 goals. The Dolphins need to be on high alert for the Titans’ number 7.

Speaking of the Dolphins, they are past due for a win, and will be desperate for a win here given their next two games come against the Panthers and Storm. Failure to win this game and it is more than likely curtains for their season, inside the first two months of the competition. Alarm bells are ringing.

These teams met twice last season, with the road team managing to get the points in both contests. In round 4, the Titans hosted the Dolphins as 2.5-point home underdogs, and despite scoring the opening two tries, went on to lose 30-14 after five unanswered tries from the Dolphins between the 23rd and 70th minutes. The total closed 45.5.

The teams met again in round 21 at Suncorp Stadium, with the Dolphins closing a 6.5-point home favourite, with a total of 53.5. The Dolphins looked as though they were continuing from where they left off in round 4, leading 14-0 after only 10 minutes, however a Brian Kelly try on the stroke of halftime gave the Titans life. Three unanswered second half tries, and a Kieran Foran field goal was enough for a 21-14 win for the Titans.

This week, the Titans were listed as 4.5-point home favourites on the lookahead line, before re-opening as 6.5-point favourites. The market wasn’t having it, and money has slowly dripped into the market for the Dolphins, with number of 4.5 and 5.5 at sportsbooks. I make the Titans a 5-point favourite, so the opener over a converted try of +6.5 was solid value for mine, but that value is now gone.

The total opened 52.5 and has stayed there throughout the week. I make a fair total far lower than this at 46.5. I am a little scared off though, as I don’t trust the Dolphins defence to hold the Titans. I do, however, trust the Titans to hold the Dolphins under 23.5 points, and that is my best bet for the game. The Dolphins are averaging 14 points a game, with their highest score of the season the 18 they put on the Tigers.

Dolphins (team total) Under 23.5

$1.88 (2 Units)

Leg 1: Titans ML – I like the Titans to get the job done at home.

Leg 2: J Isaako (1+ try) – The Titans have conceded more tries on the left this season, and Isaako is a noted try scorer. Take the rangy winger to score here.

Leg 3: J Campbell (1+ try) – In everything, and always a chance at a try, as proven by his 90-metre intercept try last week that sparked the win for the Titans.

SGM Odds: $7.50 at BoomBet
