Week 7 in the NFL boasts a 12 game slate on Monday, headlined by a big AFC clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets in the marquee time-slot. Check out our preview and betting tips for the key games of the Monday slate below.
NFL Week 7 Monday Betting Tips
Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams
7.05am (AEDT)
The Raiders started the season in hot form, winning three of their first four games, they have since lost their last two to fall to 3-3 on the season, going down by 16 points to the Broncos on the road before losing by 19 points to the Steelers at home. They are allowing 27.2 points per game, the 5th highest mark in the league.
The Rams are 1-4 to start the season but will be coming off an extra weeks’ rest when they line up on Sunday. They too have one of the leakier defences in the league, allowing 27.8 points per game and they allow more rushing yards than any team in the competition at 157.6 per game.
Like the look of the overs here. As mentioned above, both of these teams have had big numbers put up on them this season. The overs are 7-4 in their 11 combined games this season, and the total for this one is surprisingly low at just 43.5. Would have expected this one to open at around 46.
Kansas City Chiefs at San Francsico 49ers
7.25am (AEDT)
The Chiefs are one of just two remaining undefeated teams in the league this season at 5-0 but unlike previous seasons, it’s been largely their defence that has been getting the job done, rather than the high powered, Patrick Mahomes lead offence. They have allowed just 17.0 points per game, good for 6th in the league and they are 3-1-1 against the spread.
The 49ers are 3-3 on the season, having travelled to Seattle in Week 6 to claim a 12 point win. They are still without star running back Christian McCaffrey, who is yet to play a game this season and currently has no timetable for return. Their offence has hardly been struggling without him though, averaging 27.0 points per game through their first six.
The 49ers start as slight favourites at home but I’m leaning towards the Chiefs with the extra seven days of rest and preparation here. Including his coaching stint at the Eagles, Andy Reid is an incredibly 21-4 straight up in games played on the back of a bye week. Back Mahomes and co to at least cover the spread here.
New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers
11.20am (AEDT)
Aaron Rodgers is back on prime-time football this week as the Jets travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. The Jets started the season 2-1 but have lost their last three games on the spin by an average margin of just 3.3 points. Their defence has been one of the strongest in the league, allowing just 18.0 points per game, but Rodgers has struggled to get the offence going, putting up just 15.3 points per game over the last three losses.
The Steelers, as seems to be the case season after season, have scrapped their way to 4-2 so far despite many predicting them to be one of the easy beats in the AFC. They were too good on the road in Las Vegas last week, winning by 19 points as running back Najee Harris exploded for 122 all purpose yards and a touchdown.
Hard to look past the unders here. The Jets struggles on offence have been prevalent over the last few weeks and in the12 combined games that these two teams have been involved in this season, the under is 7-4-1.
