The final week of the NFL season is upon us and Monday offers up a monster 14 game slate to sink our teeth into, with the action kicking off at 5am. As always, we have you covered with betting tips for every game below.
NFL Week 18 Monday Betting Tips
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans
Monday 5am (AEDT)
The Titans have been eliminated from playoff contention but this is a big game for the Jaguars. After the Texans won on Sunday to take the lead in the AFC South division, the Jaguars must win to not only clinch the division, but keep their spot in the playoffs, as their current record is not good enough to claim a wildcard in the AFC.
The Jags got their season off to a hot start but have fallen away in the back half of the year, losing four of their last five games. They failed to cover the spread in all four of those losses, allowing a whopping 29.5 points per game. They did, bounce abc in their last game with a comfortable 26-0 win over the Panthers on New Years Eve.
Tough to see the Jags losing this one with so much on the line against a Titans team that has been well off the pace in the back half of the season. The Titans have lost their last three in a row and put up just 12 points per game in those three. Back the Jags to get the job done here and clinch the AFC South in the process.
Betting Stats
- The under is 15-5 in the last 20 Titans games. Only five of their 16 games so far this season have resulted in 40+ points being scored.
- Over their last 10 combined games, the Titans and Jaguars are 2-7-1 against the spread. (Titans 1-3-1, Jaguars 1-4)
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Monday 8.25am (AEDT)
Another matchup with huge playoff implications for one team as the Packers must win to clinch a wildcard in the NFC. They will be going up against their oldest rivals in the Chicago Bears, who can’t make the playoffs but will still have plenty of motivation to spoil the party for the Packers.
The Packers have won five of their last seven games and their last two on the trot against the Panthers and the Vikings. They have the 11th ranked offence in the league, putting up 22.9 points per game behind quarterback Jordan Love.
I like the Bears at the 3 point line here. There will be a lot of pressure on the Packers whereas the Bears have the ability to play a little more freely, knowing that they have nothing to lose. Teams in must win situations in the final week of the season have not fared well in the NFL. Back the Bears here.
Betting Stats
- Teams in must win situations in Week 18 playing against teams with no incentive to win only cover the spread 39% of the time.
- The Packers have failed to cover the spread in three of their last four games. Although the over has hit in their last six in a row.
Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins
Monday 12.20pm (AEDT)
The Sunday night marquee clash will see Miami and Buffalo battle it out for the AFC East crown. Depending on results from the earlier games, this this could also be a do or die clash for the Bills, as a loss could see them bounced from the playoffs altogether.
The Bills looked so inconsistent throughout the majority of the year but seemed to have found form at the right time, having won their last four games in a row, downing top line teams in the Chiefs and Cowboys in the process. They are the No.6 ranked offence in the league, putting up 26.9 points per game.
The Dolphins have already clinched a playoff berth but will no doubt want to win the division and secure the higher seed here. They are coming off a embarrassing 56-19 loss to the Ravens on the weekend, snapping a two game winning streak.
This one has the feeling of a shootout with both teams sitting in the top six ranked offneces and both having put up some big numbers recently. Back the overs here.
Betting Stats
- The Dolphins 1st half line is 10.5 points. They have scored 11+ points in the first half of 13 of their 16 games this season. Averaging 19.0 ppg in the first half.
