Monday in Week 14 of the NFL boasts a big 12 game slate headlined by a monster clash between the Eagles and Cowboys in the prime-time slot! Check out our preview and betting tips for the key matchups of the day below.
NFL Week 14 Monday Betting Tips
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
8.05am (AEDT)
The 49ers made a statement to the rest of the NFC last week, downing their main threat in the conference in the Philadelphia Eagles in dominant fashion 42-19. Christian McCaffrey had another fantastic game, combining for 133 all purpose yards and a touchdown while Brock Purdy climbed into pole position in the MVP betting markets with a 314 yard, four touchdown game.
The Seahawks were a legitimate contender in the NFC West three weeks ago but have lost their last three on the trot to fall to 6-6 on the season. They are still in the hunt for a wildcard in the NFC, but they are in the midst of an incredibly tough stretch of games which sees them play the 49ers twice as well as the Eagles and Cowboys in four straight weeks.
Despite the loss to the Cowboys in Week 13, the Seahawks offence sprang back to life, putting up 35 points on the back of a strong game from Geno Smith. The 49ers have had no issue putting up points this season, as such, I think this one could be a bit of a shootout. The last two games between these two teams have put up an average of 54 points.
Betting Stats
- Across Pete Carroll’s coaching career, the Seahawks are 52-34-2 against the spread as underdogs (60.5%)
- Brock Purdy will lineup as favourite for the 18th straight regular season game to start his career. He is 11-5-1 against the spread as a starter.
- The over is 12-11-1 in all games involving the Seahawks or 49ers this season but has covered in their last four games combined.
Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs
8.25am (AEDT)
The Chiefs are 8-4 on the season and are coming off an upset loss to the Packers in Week 13. They have had an incredibly inconsistent last month or so, alternating win/loss for their last six straight games. Their defence has been solid all season but they haven’t been getting the production that we have become accustomed to out of Patrick Mahomes and the offence. They are ranked 11th in the league on that side of the ball, putting up just 22.9 points per game.
The Bills were a Super Bowl contender in the pre-season but have looked nowhere near that through their opening 12 games. They are 6-6 on the season and have lost three of their last four games. They were competitive against the Eagles back in Week 12 but ultimately went down by three points before taking their bye last week.
I like the unders here. Absolute shootouts between these two teams over the past few years have raised this total up to 48.5 but both offences have looked off the pace this season. The unders have hit in four of the last five Bills games, back it again here.
Betting Stats
- Patrick Mahomes is 16-3 straight up when coming off a loss and is 15-5 against the spread as a favourite of three points or less.
- The Bills are 6-0 outright coming off a bye under the tutelage of Sean McDermott but they are 6-12-2 against the spread with extra rest.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
12.20pm (AEDT)
Despite the loss to the 49ers last week, the Eagles still have the best record in the NFL at 10-2 and have been solid against the spread this season at 7-3-2. The loss snapped a five game winning streak, and another loss here would see the Cowboys draw level with them in the NFC East. The Eagles have the No.4 ranked offence in the league, but have leaked points this season, ranking just 24th in defence.
The Cowboys have turned their season around over the last month, winning their last four games, covering the spread in all of them in pretty dominant performances. They have put up an average of 42.0 points per game across those four games, becoming the top ranked offence in the league in the process.
Think the Cowboys are good value here as slight favourites at home. They have looked the far better team over the past month and have been dominant at home, going 6-0 straight up and 5-1 against the spread. Back them to cover here.
Betting Stats
- The home team has covered 9 of the last 10 matchups between these two teams.
- The Cowboys have won 14 straight home games, covering the spread in 11 of them.
- The current total of 52.5 is the highest since Week 5. Each of these two teams last six meetings have gone over.
