Another week, another monster Monday NFL slate to look forward to with 13 games on the card. As always, we have you covered with previews for the key games of the day as well as betting tips for every matchup below.
NFL Week 3 Monday Betting Tips
Chicago Bears at Kansas City Chiefs
Monday 6.25am (AEST)
The Chiefs bounced back from a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Lions with an impressive win over the Jags in Week 2. While many thought that it would be the Patrick Mahomes led offence that would be the key weapon for Kansas City, it’s proved to be their defence that has been the standout through the opening two weeks of the season, keeping their opponents to an average of just 15.0 points through the opening two games.
The Bears have started the season in horrific fashion, going 0-2 to NFC opponents in the Packers and Buccaneers. Their defence has been poor through the two games, allowing 32.5 points per game, the 2nd highest figure in the league behind only the Giants.
The Chiefs start as massive 12.5 point favourites here, which opened at around 10.5 at the start of the week. If you jumped on that line, well done, but I still think the Chiefs have enough firepower to cover the higher line here. Predicting this to be the game where they find some form offensively.
Betting Stats
- The Bears are a dismal 8-21 against the spread as underdogs and 5-13 against the spread on the road since 2021.
- Justin Fields is just 8-18-1 against the spread across the course of his career and 0-3 when a double-digit underdog.
Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals
Monday 6.25am (AEST)
Another massive double digit line here as the Cowboys travel to Arizona to take on the 0-2 Cardinals. Dallas have looked one of the most impressive teams of the season so far, going 2-0 with wins over both New York teams in the Giants and the Jets. Both offence and defence has been on display in the Cowboys wins, as they currently rank 1st overall in the league in offence, scoring 35.0 points per game and 1st in defence, allowing just 5.0 points per game.
On the contrary, the Cardinals have started the season 0-2 but have looked respectable at least, covering the spread in both of their games as they went down to the Commanders by four points and the Giants by three. They looked the better side in their Week 2 game against the Giants, getting out to a 21 point lead in the 3rd quarter before the Giants piled on 24 unanswered points to snatch victory.
It’s another big double digit line but once again, I think the Cowboys will be far too good on the road here. There’s two teams that I trust more than any other in the league at the moment, and they are the Cowboys and 49ers. I think they cover the spread here and move to 3-0 on the season.
Betting Stats
- The Cowboys are the best team in the NFL against the spread over the last two seasons. In that period, they are 25-11 against the spread and 19-8 as favourites.
- When starting the season 0-2 straight up but 2-0 against the spread in the last 30 seasons, teams are 1-4 ATS in their Week 3 game.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Las Vegas Raiders
Monday 10.15am (AEST)
The Steelers bounced back from a Week 1 loss to the 49ers with an ugly win over the Browns in Week 2. Their offence has been anything but inspiring through two games, as they put up just seven points in their opening game before stumbling to 26 points in Week 2 on the back of two defensive touchdowns against the Browns.
The Raiders have been one of the worst ranked defences in the league through the opening two games, allowing 27.0 points per game on their way to a 1-1 start. With their two opening games coming on the road, they will likely be happy with the 1-1 split and will now be able to regroup with three of their next four coming at home.
The Raiders start as three point favourites here but I’m leaning more towards the overs at just 43.0. The Steelers and Browns put up 48 points in a sloppy game last week and I think this Vegas defence should play the Steelers offence into form slightly.
Betting Stats
- Mike Tomlin is 2-6 against the spread in his career against the Raiders
- The over is 2-2 in the four games involving the Raiders and Steelers so far this season
