An eight-race card presents itself on Friday night at Moonee Valley with a couple of nice bets on offer for us. Following on from the brilliant day we had at Randwick and Sandown on Wednesday we hope to pad your pockets with some more cash for the weekend!
Here’s our preview and tips for Moonee Valley for Friday February 17th.
Moonee Valley Betting Tips - Friday February 17th
Race 1
A difficult start to the night with most horses on debut. BALLE D’OR is the top pick with some race experience under the belt while Hope You Don’t Mind won on debut and looks a value price tonight. Best to spend your money at the bar in this one.
TIP: Balle D’or
Race 2
A snappy field for Race 2 over the 1000m. Most of the key chances will be out the back which may open it up for PUNT CLUB to lead all the way and pinch it once again. Star Stealer and Barthelona are contenders but may get caught wide/deep so sticking with DANCE WITH FONTEIN. Has drawn well and meets Punt Club 4.5kg better off from last start. We’re getting a great price here to back both for a result.
TIP: Dance With Fontein / Punt Club
Race 3
This looks a race in two with both Red Alto and RICH LUCK chasing a hat-trick of victories. Red Alto has been impressive but this is looks a tougher ask, so sticking with the consistent Rich Luck who has been placed in the top two in all five starts.
TIP: Rich Luck
Race 4
A small field presents for the 55 Second Challenge with just six runners. LADY ESPRIT is flying at the moment and comes up a short-priced favourite here. Won two in a row on this track before getting shuffled back last start against tougher opposition in the WJ Adams Stakes. We’re not getting a great price but hard to see Lady Esprit losing this one. If there’s to be an upset, it may come from top weight Pretty Possum who is resuming and has a good record when fresh.
TIP: Lady Esprit (BEST BET)
Race 5
Open race here with several horses resuming and the market unsure of which way to turn. Looking for a bit of value here and don’t mind the look of Hollywoodgirl as an each-way option. Certainly tougher here but a horse on the rise with a good record of five placings from six starts. My other pick is GO GRACEY. Fourth up here on the back of back-to-back victories, should be right up on speed and giving a great sight coming into the short Moonee Valley straight. This is again tougher, but we’re getting a great price to find out if Go Gracey is the real deal.
TIP: Go Gracey E/W
Race 6
Several chances in this one over the 2500m. Chance to Dance led all the way last start while Big Memory probably should have won that race but winning is not something he does often! Master of Arts looks well set for this one, with some impressive performances in good company. Will be well back in the run though, and that may prove the difference if NORTHWEST PASSAGE gets an easy time out in front. The Tasmanian Derby winner brings strong form lines to the mainland and an impressive record of four wins from five starts including a smashing win as a short favourite last start. Will be the one to catch and the price looks good value.
TIP: Northwest Passage
Race 7
A few key scratchings has left us with several chances in this one. Devils Pinch has been rock solid this prep with four placings from as many starts and should be in the finish once again. Despite the fitness edge, I’m going with one resuming in MR INDIVIDUAL. Has won fresh and has a liking for this track and distance. The class of the field and if he returns well, he’ll be right in the finish.
TIP: Mr Individual
Race 8
Andrassy is second up here and will give a bold showing from the front, while Jalan Jalan will also improve second up. The favourite Turbo Miss looks unders, so happy to take the price on offer for last start winner MOSSBEAT. Had a nice run in the middle of the field and should enjoy a similar time of it here. The price looks generous.
TIP: Mossbeat
