Eagle Farm Racing Tips: Saturday, June 15th 2024
Race 2: Makers Mark Hinkler Hcp 1200m – 12:18pm (AEST)
(5) Perelle $2.15: we were with him LS and he couldn’t have been more impressive coming from well back in the field on the home corner, angling out to the centre of the track, and putting them away easily winning by 4L eased down (MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO since won). He’s since had a trial at Hawkesbury over 1000m that he won by a narrow margin under a strangle hold (was nice work). He has a terrific record fresh, handles all track conditions, and JMac retains the ride. He draws a sticky gate so they’ll need some luck after jumping, but I think he can land off-speed (hopefully one off with cover) and be produced down the middle of the track for last crack at them. Promising 4YO who still has upside.
(4) Ef Troop $16: $41 into $16 early. Boasts a good record second up and over 1200m. Worth thought with the big plunge early.
(11) Enterprise Pomme $15.00: Very consistent mare who has terrific form around this track and distance. Rock hard fit and a chance at odds.
(5) Perelle
$2.15 (5 Units)
Race 4: Brisbane Cup 3200m 1:28pm (AEST)
(7) Mostly Cloudy $2.70: a cracking edition of the Brisbane Cup and this guy looks the best bet of the day! It was a very tough watch second-up in the Roy Higgins over 2600m when he was badly held-up from the 500m-300m mark before getting out and hitting the line hard to finish third behind MARK TWAIN who produced a slashing finale to win (arguably should’ve won). He then went to the Sydney Cup and was forced to race wide throughout off a hot speed (some 17L above average to the 600m) yet he was still the third fastest home over the final 200m (brave / ties in with AMADE and SELINO). He dropped back to 2800m LS in the Andrew Ramsden and was unlucky again after being held-up at a key stage to finish second behind THE MAP (arguably should’ve won / best L200m split of the race / was very good). He draws a beautiful gate for Blake Shinn today, meets AMADE better at the weights after beating him home in the Sydney Cup, will likely have a head start on key rivals in running, and his best form is on good ground which he’ll get See today. Hard to beat.
(2) Amade $4.80: 10Yo who gets better with age. Boasts impressive stats over 3200m with the most recent win being over this trip carrying 60kg to win by 2L. Big chance again.
(5) Alegron $6.50/$2.10: Picked this one last start at huge odds and only just missed behind Hezashocka who was backed for a stack. Gaps to third. Up in trip now looks ideal and can win here.
(7) Mostly Cloudy
$2.70 (3.5 Units)
Race 8: The Star Stradbroke Hcp 1400m 3:57pm (AEST)
(3) Antino $8.00/$2.90: a typically open edition of the Stradbroke Hcp with many chances, but I think this guy is peaking at the right time. He was run off his legs first-up over 1200m before he ducked back to the inside and really surged late to get up and win (best 4-200m and L200m split of the race / excellent return). He then went to the G1 Kingsford Smith Cup over 1300m and was a sneaky good run. The racebook says he was beaten 4.4L behind I WISH I WIN, but he raced 3WNC for the entirety and still reeled off the fifth best final 200m split of the meeting (loved the way he hit the line). That form ties in with BELLA NIPOTINA and MAGIC TIME, and he meets them far better at the weights under handicap conditions (plummets 4.5kgs from LS). The obvious query is where he gets to in the run from such a wide gate, but I’m backing Vlad / the stable to have a plan. He has an excellent record at the track, goes best on top of the ground, and the extra 100m suits. Great each-way bet.
(10) Amenable $12.00: happy to save on this fella at the price. He was a heavily backed favourite first-up over 1400m when he was nailed on the past by VON HAUKE after leading throughout (no disadvantage to have cover on the day / went well against the pattern). His second-up performance was plain to the eye in the G1 George Ryder, and I’m happy to forgive (he doesn’t have a good second-up profile + he caused interference in running). He went to the G1 All Aged Stakes after a month between runs and sat OSL before beating all-bar MAGIC TIME who had the drop on him (improved sharply). He again had a month between runs before his LS effort when he was unlucky not to win after being held-up at a key stage to just miss COASTWATCH (since ran well behind YELLOWBRICK) with 60kgs on his back. He plummets to 53kgs today, gets Chad Schofield back on board, he goes well at 1400m, and his only two wins have been on good ground. I think they can roll forward from a wide gate and put him into the race to give us a sight. Good roughie
(6) Vilana $5.50/$2.10: Favourite who blitzed them last start Tougher here now and draws wide. Must be respected off last starts effort.
Also Backing: (10) Amenable $12.00 (0.5 Units)
