Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks
American Airlines Center, 11:30am AEDT
The Suns went into the All-Star break in fine form having won eight of their last 10 games to surge into fifth in the Western Conference. They had two representatives in Indy for the All-Star game, with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant both showcasing their talent. The star duo will be hoping to pick up where they left off post break with a win against the Mavericks in Dallas on Thursday. However, the Mavs were also in terrific form prior to the break, winning six straight games which is tied with the Celtics for the best current streak. With Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving both healthy, and a number of their new pieces fitting in seamlessly, this Mavs team will be setting large goals for themselves in the back half of this season. The Mavs have had the better of the Suns in big games in recent seasons and this is another one of those games with both teams vying for similar spots in the standings. The Mavs have home court advantage on their side and I expect them to prevail here.

Los Angeles Clippers at OKC Thunder
Paycom Center, 12pm AEDT
Another heavyweight Western Conference battle on Thursday will see the Los Angeles Clippers head to Oklahoma to take on the Thunder. The Clippers have been the form team in the conference for the best part of three months and will be hoping that the week off hasn’t stalled their momentum. Prior to the break they had won five straight and seven of their last eight games on the road. Elsewhere, the Thunder were a touch shaky heading into their break with four losses from their last nine games, although only one of those came at the Paycom Center where they’ve been dominant this campaign (21-6). In saying that, the Clippers easily accounted for them when they met in mid-January (128-117) and will be fully healthy for their rematch on Thursday. And at the current H2H price at $2+, the Clippers look to be a solid play.

Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors
Chase Center, 2pm AEDT
One of the juiciest matchups on the slate has been saved until last, with the Los Angeles Lakers making a trip to the Chase Center to battle the Golden State Warriors. The All-Star break probably came at the wrong time for the Lakers because they’d finally found some rhythm with wins in six of their last seven games. Impressively, the Lakers are also on a four-game win streak on the road, with a couple of those wins coming against premier teams in the Celtics and the Knicks. Meanwhile, the Warriors have been battling away this season but were also in some of their best form heading into the week off. They enter this slate having won six of their last seven games, although their lone loss was at home against another LA side in the Clippers. The last time these teams met we needed a couple of overtime periods to determine a winner and I expect another close battle on Thursday. With that in mind, taking the Lakers to cover the spread is the play.
