Race 2: Stradbroke Season On Sale BM78 2400m - 1:48pm (AEDT)
(2) IOWA $3.00: looks a nice play early in the day. He’s getting deep enough into his prep to suggest he’s hitting peak fitness now and he’s proven over the distance. Two-back he was caught wide and rolled forward to set a strong tempo over 2000m at Randwick when he felt the pinch late and was beaten 2.8L by KAPAKIRI (ties in with ROGUE BEAR and BEDFORD SQUARE). He then went to the Gold Coast LS and jumped a $2.60 favorite over the 2200m trip. He led them up and was taken on by SOUTHERN STOCK at the 1000m mark before giving a nice kick on the corner to get nailed right on the wire by DENILIQUIN (ties in with TAPPY’S LAD and CONTRITION). He meets DENILIQUIN 3kgs better at the weights, maps to be the sole leader from a low draw, and he can handle all conditions if the rain arrives. I think he’s hard to get past
(4) Deniliquin $6.50/$2.15: Value I the field who finished strongly last start to score. Beat IOWA last start, but goes up in weight now which is the concern. Each way chance here.
Race 3: Girls Day Out On Sale HCP 1300m - 2:23pm (AEDT)
(1) Bold Comic $4.50: keen to have something on this fella as I think they’ve gone up the wrong price. He arrives off a 4-week freshen after running fifth behind ABOUNDING (since won again last week) over 1200m in Listed grade when he was held-up at a key stage and arguably could’ve finished closer (he crossed the line with CIFRADO which ties in with RINGER’S REWARD). The run two-back was over 1000m and he did a good job running second to BOSSED UP after having to dart back to the inside and lump 60.5kgs (big gaps to third). He draws an ideal gate to sit right behind the speed, he gets in so well at the weights after the claim (FORTUNEER meets him at level weights and RINGER’S REWARD has to give him weight, both as fillies), and the extra trip looks ideal. PAYLINE and FORTUNEER both have upside but they’re coming up in grade and will likely give him a head-start. Happy to spec.
(4) Fortuneer $3.00: Looking for a trifecta here and market has been supported early. Worth every thought again.
(7) Payline $3.00: Equal favourite, but slightly drifting. Yet to win a race, but appears to be getting close. Fitter fourth up here.
(1) Bold Comic Each-Way
$4.50 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Ladbrokes Communities BM72 1805m - 3:33pm (AEDT)
(14) Fluer De Monde $4.20: one of the better bets of the day! She’s a progressive 4YO mare who has found some form this time in. Three-back she rolled forward and led / sat OSL before holding off all-bar TENZING who jumped favourite and had the run of the race (big gaps to third). Two-back she went to 1660m on a heavy track and won nicely beating home MOKTAFFY (since won / also here / meets him .5kgs better at the weights for beating him). LS she went to 1810m and went back from a wide gate before racing tight down large portions of the straight to run fourth behind MADAME ODETTE and PRINCESS RHAENYS (since won). I liked her work late over the line when she finally balanced up. Draws gate 2 today and maps to settle closer to the speed. She’s shown she can handle all conditions, so no concern if the rain arrives. She can win (2 unit Win– BOOM)
(13) Yangari $12: he comes through the key lead-in race behind TEXAS which ties in with rivals BINDING, MOKTAFFY and NO GOING BACK. He dropped the bit turning for home before getting clear air inside the final 100m and really surging late (it was nice work over the line). He meets BINDING better at the weights after the claim and draws for a gun run from a low draw which is advantageous compared with NO GOING BACK. If we go back to the start prior he was no better than 3WNC the entirety and was forced 5WNC on the corner yet still kept kicking to run third behind KORUTO (also here / meets him 3.5kgs better at the weights). He goes best with the cut out of the ground and gets in form apprentice Cejay Graham up. Going to save on him.
(10) Moktaffy $11.00/$3.40: Orman for Waller is always a dangerous combo here. Early support and if he shows anything like he did two back he will be worth every shout again here at big odds.
(14) Fluer De Monde
$4.20 (1 Unit)
Race 10: Drinkwise BM90 1600m- 5:50pm (AEDT)
(3) Eaglemont $6.00/$2.25: best each-way bet of the day! FREEDOM RALLY certainly looks to be deserved favourite, but we’re currently getting a better price about this guy to run the hole compared with FREEDOM RALLY to win. His last 4 runs have all been super and his races have been well spaced. He was strong at the end of 1600m four-back when he beat home the luckless TITANIUM with 61kgs on his back before going to the Randwick mile where he was given an impossible task from gate 19 settling near last in transit (he really hit the line hard). Two-back he went up to 2000m and was held up at a key stage before pushing out and surging to just miss ZEGALO right on the stick. We were with him LS going back to the mile and he was well-backed before winning eased down. He keeps 59.5kgs on his back to offset the slight rise in grade, but he draws a solid gate and maps for another nice run. If he can reproduce his same form, he’s right up to these. Keen he runs well.
(9) Freedom Rally $1.85: 4YO who has been smashed already. B.THOMPSON for GOLLAN must be respected. Terrific record with 50% win rate. Too short for me, but is the one to beat.
(3) Eaglemont Each-Way
$6.00/$2.25 (1U/2U)
