The goals kept flowing in the A-League Men’s competition last weekend, with Wellington emerging three points clear at the top of the table.
As 2023 comes to an end, each and every team will be looking to start the new year with a win this weekend.

A-League Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
Melbourne City FC vs Brisbane Roar
Thursday 28th December, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Despite sitting seventh on the table, Melbourne City have produced decent performances in recent weeks, going undefeated in their last four fixtures.
Those results have mostly come on the back of solid defence, so Brisbane will have to improve their offensive output if they are to get a result on enemy territory this Thursday.
The Roar have scored just one goal over the last fortnight, falling to lowly ranked Central Coast and Western United.
Nevertheless, Brisbane’s form has been far better this campaign than in previous seasons, so they shouldn’t be underestimated.
However, City are always a challenging proposition at AAMI Park, and I’m expecting the home side to come out on top here.

Sydney FC vs Wellington Phoenix
Friday 29th December, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Sydney FC kept themselves off the bottom of the table with a 4-2 win over Western United last weekend, just their third victory of the season.
The Sky Blues found their attacking mojo to find the back of the net four times, but that has been their area of weakness all season.
On the other hand, Wellington are flying high at the top of the table, fresh off a fourth win in five matches.
While the Phoenix haven’t scored an outrageous amount of goals, they have conceded just seven, easily the least in the league.
That will serve them well when they travel to Sydney, and I’m shocked to see that Sydney are such hot favourites.
I’m more than happy to punt on the ladder leading Phoenix here, especially at such long odds.

Newcastle Jets vs Western United
Saturday 30th December, 5.30pm (AEDT)
Newcastle are desperate for a win, and this Saturday is as good a chance as any.
The Jets will take on Western United, who are bottom ranked and have been the worst performing side of the season by far.
With that said, Newcastle have not exactly been firing on all cylinders either – the Jets are ninth, with one win from their last five matches.
Furthermore, Western United have a great record against Newcastle – they have lost just once in eight previous meetings.
This side is far worse than those of seasons gone by, so it’s tough to bet against the hosts.

Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United
Saturday 30th December, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Melbourne Victory continued their unbeaten start to the season in Round 9 when they played out a 0-0 draw against rivals Melbourne City.
Although they failed to get the desired result, being unbeaten after nine games is one hell of an effort considering their performance last season.
Elsewhere, Adelaide United were finally able to get back onto the winners list last start with their win over the Jets snapping a three-gaming losing streak.
The Reds started their campaign in ominous form but results since Round 4 have left a lot to be desired.
Victory are clearly the form team in this matchup if not the entire league, and deserve to be favourites. Expect them to take care of business on their home deck.

Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Sunday 31st December, 7.00pm (AEDT)
After what looked like a fierce title hangover, the Central Coast Mariners have returned to for, over the past five weeks with three wins and two draws.
The Mariners took care of business last time out against the Roar, smashing them 3-0 despite being the travelling side.
Likewise, Perth Glory were able to find a win last outing against Macarthur who were one of the form sides prior. The Glory snapped a five-game winless run on that occasion.
The Mariners have seemingly hit their straps this season and are now a force that will be hard to stop. They get home ground advantage against the struggling Glory and they should be able to benefit with a strong win.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Macarthur FC
Monday 1st January, 5.00pm (AEDT)
Bringing in the New Year is a fixture that pits the Western Sydney Wanderers against Macarthur FC at 5pm AEDT in Sydney.
The Wanderers started the season with a six-game unbeaten run but have struggled since with two losses from their last three, including a 2-0 defeat last start against the Phoenix.
Meanwhile, Macarthur have had similar fortunes this season, starting off unbeaten through seven before losing each of their last two fixtures.
Neither team would be proud of their results in recent weeks, but the Wanderers have home ground on their side on this occasion where they’ve been strong so far. I don’t mind them to get the win at these odds.
