The Valley will host its traditional summer Friday night meeting on what is expected to be a cool and wet night in Melbourne.
Race one starts at 6:15pm and runners will be likely running on a Good 4 surface.
Brendan Bunworth’s first bet of the evening comes in Race 1 on a horse that was backed to win on debut when third. Check out his tip for that race plus more below, and if you're looking for a new bookmaker to have a flutter with, why not check out Betr?
Moonee Valley Racing Tips - Friday, February 3rd 2023
Race 1
(4) Graysong is prepared by Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr and the pair have put the in-form Jamie Kah on, fresh off her Hong Kong success at the weekend. The I am Invincible gelding raced two weeks ago at Flemington with Blake Shinn on and settled fourth but despite placing it did look like he needed the run. Fitter for raceday experience, he should be a lot better in this one.
(5) Mi Scusi has drawn poorly in 14 but if anyone can overcome that it is the GOAT in Damien Oliver. He was on him last time at Pakenham when 6th and has obviously decided to stick with him.
(6) Street Elite has barrier 15 and will likely have to push forward like she did at Moe when 2nd last start. Joe Bowditch takes the ride again and with luck he can place if gets across early.
(11) Star Magic has run three 2nds from 5 starts and her Stony Creek effort was very good when beaten a head.
(4) Graysong WIN
$4.40 (1 Unit)
Race 2
*SCRATCHED* (2) Greece is back after a short spell. He raced quite well during the Spring despite being scratched on a few occasions because of unsuitable tracks. Last start she ran 2nd to her stable mate Garza Blanca on a Good track and she gets a similar track here. First try at The Valley and over the distance.
(1) Capital Theatre has Ollie on and is trained by the leading Hawkes stable. He has been a model of consistency his last 5 starts and he has placed 3 times over this distance already.
(5) Rock Diamond is a last start winner and has Jamie Kah on. At Warrnambool she was sent to the barriers as favourite and settled on pace before being strong to the line over the concluding stages.
(6) Scuderia led all of the way at Geelong last start and may try similar tactics here. She has drawn well in 2 and has Johnny Allen on.
Race 4
(4) Young Liam drops in class a little bit in this race but will go around at double figure odds. He saw The Valley a fortnight ago for the first time this season and should improve again as he does normally race well here. He goes better on Good tracks which he gets here and being his 5th run this prep he should be fully wound up here. Jordan Childs is back on and he has ridden him previously.
(1) Cecil Street Lad comes over from Sunshine Coast but has had a couple of recent jumpouts in Victoria. He has won first up before and he will likely settle around midfield.
(7) Super Thief from the Hayes yard was a lot better at Moe last time when 2nd but is up in class a little bit and did fail here at his first attempt.
(8) Tom the Star is pretty consistent but doesn't win often. A place bet might be the go with this one.
(4) Young Liam Each-way
$16/$4.80 (0.5 Units)
Race 8
(10) Holymanz for the Maher & Eustace stable has drawn okay in 7 and Mark Zahra should be able to decide what he wants to do with the gelding. The son of Almanzor won his recent jumpout and before that he was solid behind the talented Jacquinot. His last win was at Horsham was on its Cup Day and he was very good on that occasion when settling on speed.
(7) True Nobility for Peter Chow hasn't placed here from two attempts but did bolt in at Hamilton last start. Dean Yendall won on him last time and he stays on.
(3) Red Phantom for Nick Ryan has drawn inside and he has won first up before. He's an interesting runner in this one because he hasn't won for over a year but I do think he has ability.
(2) Vongole was solid here last time when 4th but has drawn poorly this time in 14.
(10) Holymanz WIN
$4.50 (1 Unit)
