EPL Matchday 12 Betting Tips
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Aston Villa
Saturday, 11:30pm AEDT
Wolverhampton were really disappointing against an undermanned Liverpool outfit last weekend, losing 4-0 at Anfield. Prior to that the Wolves were impressive winners on the road against the Gunners (2-1) and they looked to be a team in good form. They come into this weekend sitting 10th with a 5-2-4 record.
Aston Villa started off the season in dream fashion with wins in their opening four matches; however, they’ve since crashed back down to reality with four losses from their past five outings, which has them sitting in 12th spot on the table, albeit with two games in hand.
These clubs enter this weekend in a similar position on the table, but it’s the Wolves who we really like here. They’re the far more talented outfit and have shown glimpses of their best in recent weeks. We’re prepared to forgive their last performance against Liverpool and back them in at good odds against a struggling Aston Villa.
Manchester United vs Manchester City
Sunday, 4:30am AEDT
Manchester United fans had their hearts broken with their beloved Red Devils crashing out of the Champions League midweek. The silver lining to their UCL exit is that their team will be focusing solely on the EPL, which they’ve been able to perform well in over the past month with four wins on the spin.
Manchester City have been able to take advantage of a couple of easy EPL fixtures in a row, proving far too good for Burnley (5-0) and Fulham (2-0) in their last two outings. The Citizens backed up their league form with an easy 3-0 win in the UCL against Marseille midweek, which takes their unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches.
The Manchester derby is always must-see TV and this edition will be no different. Both clubs come into this fixture in winning league form, which should make for a very competitive affair. Interestingly, United won both of their league meetings last season despite being the huge underdogs on both occasions, and they’ll start this match as 4-1 underdogs despite being in great league form. We’re aware that City are the better squad of the two in this day and age, but the Manchester derby is a fixture that can toss up crazy results at the best of times, which we saw last season. Getting better than 4-to-1 odds for United at home looks like great value this weekend in our opinion.
Leicester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Monday, 6:15am AEDT
Leicester City snapped a two-game losing streak with a win at the death against Sheffield United last weekend. Jamie Vardy has made a habit of bobbing up late to steal the win and he was the man of the moment once again. The Foxes are now back in the top four and just three points behind top spot.
Brighton were unable to extend their unbeaten run in the EPL to four games when they lost to Southampton last time out. The Seagulls took the lead early on in the match but weren’t able to keep momentum on their side. They’re currently in 16th spot on the table with two wins to their name.
Leicester have been in some indifferent form of late but their best is certainly head and shoulders above Brighton, especially on their home deck. We’re expecting the Foxes to make it back-to-back wins with an easy three points on Monday morning.
