The Group 1 WA Oaks (Race 5) headlines the meeting, which is set to get unerway at 9.24pm AEST.
We've assessed the feature race of the night below, along with two other races we are keen to bet into!
Gloucester Park Harness Tips: Friday, May 3rd
Race 3 – 8:24pm AEST
An excellent Level 11 race which sees (1) Vincenzo Peruggia leading, (10) The Art Form behind the leader and either (5) Speed Man or (12) King Of Swing racing in the breeze. (2) Caviar Star should take cover early which means trainer Gary Hall Snr could have the first three horses in the moving line. Speed Man finished third at his first-up run last week when working to the breeze. The mile rate was a quick 1:53.7 for the 1730m and Speed Man fought on well in the home straight to finish 2.3m behind (4) Back To The Beach and Caviar Star. He should run an honest race again and $13 represents value. There appears to be seven winning chances in the race.
My Rated Price: $6.00
Race 5 – Group 1 WA Oaks – 9:24pm AEST
The big race tonight is for the 3YO fillies in the Group 1 WA Oaks (2536m). There appears to be limited chances in the event with a couple of horses having a distinct class edge. One of those is (10) Dracarys who has won her past four starts. She has the inside of the second-row to contend with in the Oaks and it will take some Gary Hall Jnr magic to land a good position for her to strike. (1) My Prayer is likely to surrender the lead to either (3) La Roue De Lamour, (6) Balcatherine or (8) Typhoon Tiff. I would suggest it will most likely be Balcatherine which leaves Typhoon Tiff outside of the leader. Dracarys is averaging 56.2 for her last half (past seven starts) and the median is 55.8. She has the best closing and overall speed in the race and will be hard to beat. Balcatherine, Typhoon Tiff and La Roue De Lamour have each-way claims. Place chances to My Prayer, (2) Mandy Joan and (12) Fake News.
My Rated Price: $1.85
Race 7 – 10:30pm AEST
(7) Fanci A Dance is the class horse in the field and this looks a suitable race for him as he competes third-up from a spell. He was runner up last time when beaten 2.1m by The Midas Touch in this class. Fanci A Dance was a winner five starts ago when working to race outside of the leader, winning by 9.4m. He should have some versatility in this company which means he can sit back and make a three-wide run late or be put into the race to sit outside of likely leader (1) Baylan Jett. (10) Highroller Joe will be the main danger from barrier 10. He has a strong finishing burst on him and if he gets the right run, will be hard to hold out.
My Rated Price: $2.50
