It was a brilliant send off to bucks on Queens Birthday at the SCG a few weeks ago as the Pies knocked off the top team in the competition in Melbourne by 17 points. Everything was going right for Collingwood throughout the day, with Jordan De Goey playing a starring role in the midfield with 32 touches while big man Darcy Cameron booted four goals.
The Dockers will also be coming off their bye week in Round 14, with their last game being a win against the Suns a few weeks ago. They captured the win without skipper Nat Fyfe in the side but the star midfielder could return this week after recovering from a shoulder injury. The Dockers could also get Griffin Logue, Sam Switkowski and Matt Taberner back to strengthen the side.
Interestingly, the Pies start as favourites here and given the history of AFL coaches in their first game, it’s no wonder. Coaches who have replaced another mid-way through the season have an almost impeccable record over the past decade in their first game at the helm, probably due to the fact that coaches often get sacked right before a relatively easy game to ensure the new reign gets off to a nice start.
Collingwood have a really settled injury list at the moment, in fact, they have been one of the luckiest teams throughout the season, ranking 16th in total games lost to injury this year. Star midfielder Taylor Adams will come back into the side this week, strengthening what is already a better team than their record suggests. I think they win in a relatively close one at Marvel in front of a home crowd.

Jamie Elliot was held goalless in the win over the Demons a few weeks ago but it’s still hard to look past just how good he was the week before against the Crows. The small forward actually gave the Pies a lead up target, something they have desperately craved this season and when things don’t go his way in the air, he is lethal on the ground. Back him to kick 2+ this week.
Brodie Grundy has surpassed 15 touches in all but two of his games this season and averages 19.3 on the season. Caleb Serong has had 15+ disposals in every game this season, averaging 21.2 on the year.
