A-League Week 18 Betting Tips
Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Friday 23rd April 7.05pm (AEST)
What a year it’s been for the Melbourne Victory. They have had by far their worst season in A-League history, currently sitting dead last on the table with a 3-2-11 record. They were absolutely decimated by Melbourne City on the weekend, going down 7-0 as Jamie Maclaren booted five goals. The Victory have won just one of their last eight games, which came over the 11th placed Newcastle Jets.
The Wanderers are coming off a disappointing loss to the Roar on the weekend, squandering the home field advantage to go down 2-1 and slip to 6th on the A-League table. They are now winless in their last five games, although three of those games have been draws.
The Wanderers get a fantastic chance to get back on the winners list here against a ravaged Victory side that will be without Adama Traore due to the red card he received against City on the weekend. Can’t see this game going any other way besides a comfortable Wanderers win which will keep them in the hunt for the top six.
Central Coast Mariners vs Sydney FC
Saturday 24th April 5.05pm (AEST)
Sydney FC have had some really impressive performances this season that have reminded us why they have been so dominant over the past few seasons but they have also had some disappointing results that make us wonder if they are really up to the challenge. This week, they get a perfect opportunity to make a statement against the Mariners, who have held top spot for the majority of the season.
The Mariners were just pipped off the top of the table this week as Melbourne City recorded a massive 7-0 win while Central Coast were defeated 1-0 at the hands of Western United. They have won just one of their last six games and while they aren’t in any immediate danger of falling out of the top six, they will be desperate to get back on the winners list at home on Saturday night.
The Mariners were 2-0 winners when the two sides met earlier in the season on Sydney’s home turf. That game marked the first time they had defeated Sydney in a whopping seven attempts, and in the history of the A-League, they have only managed a 15-10-24 record against Sydney. Love the value of the Sky Blues here, who have not lost in their last four games.
Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory
Sunday 2.10pm (AEST)
The Roar are coming off two straight wins over Macarthur and Western Sydney that have catapulted them back into contention for the top six. They now sit just two points behind the Wanderers in sixth place and have a really winnable game at home against the 10th placed Perth Glory coming up on Sunday.
Perth have squandered their opportunities since winning three straight games to have them in contention back in February. Since then, they have won just one of their next 10 games, dropping all the way to 10th with a 4-11-16 record.
The last time these two teams met was the final game of Perth’s three game winning streak back in February as they defeated the Roar at home 3-1. I just can’t see this going the same way given how the Glory have played recently. Back this to be a comfortable win for the home side in Brisbane.
